Hypothetical Portland / Minnesota draft day trade

Post#1 » by farzi » Wed Jun 25, 2008 12:04 pm

This entire trade hinges on McHale wanting Love over Mayo (I know you guys would rather have mayo, but your GM might not)

It also hinges on the deal floating out there that Portland lands the number 5 pick from Memphis for expirings and 13+33.

So, would you guys do either
#3 for #5, #27, #36, #55

-or-

#3 and Jaric for #5, Przybilla and Jack?
Thank you for all the memories BRoy. You were a class act and brought hope to an entire region for 5 years. You will be missed.

I don't think Minnesota is eager to help Portland get better. I don't imagine a deal between the two unless Portland vastly overpays. The trades you offer are good value for sure.

But I think in the circumstances both teams are in, it'd be hard to get Minnesota to pony up that #3.

if it weren't for portland (no hate btw. it's about not making them even better than they are now) to be our trading partner I'd consider the 1st deal.

I won't ever endorse a Portland-Minny deal ever.

The second deal is also fair value and I would consider it. Not sure on Pryz or Jack's deals, but a decent defensive center and back up PG is nice. Pryz isn't a long term solution though and we would want a longe term starter.

A concern with the first deal would be roster space. All of those picks means a number of people don't return, are bought out, or the draft picks don't make the team/aren't signed. Plus the potential 3 firsts next year even crowds us up more.

The value is not bad, but I think it is a no; and this is all aside from it being Portland, who we really don't want to improve their dynasty in the making.

no, make Portland keep their 35 draft picks, then we swoop in and sign all their roster spillover. But I don't want to leave Portland in the cold, so to help them consolidate their roster a bit I'm going to oblige them by offering Antoine Walker's Expiring Contract (A.W.E.C.) for Przybilla and Jarret Jack

Yea we have 2 2nd round picks already, we dont need 2 more. The #5 is nice but I dont think the Hornets pick will be very valuable either. I'll pass.

MIN can't afford to send Mayo to POR and risk that he might become a superstar.

The amount of assets you'd have to add to make it worthwhile for MIN would make it impractical. Better to try MIA

Portland is trying to move up. They have lots of little pieces, but simply cannot keep them all on the roster. They will spam a lot in the next day. Just a warning.
