Celtics wont Repeat

Post#1 » by Triple M » Wed Jun 25, 2008 1:26 pm

because
The Big 3 are a year older
one of them will get injured
they wont be as hungry
not enough depth if they lose Posey
ect

Don't you love the fact that the Haters never learn.

Whenever someone has raised that point, I've answered that they have a better chance of repeating next year than anyone else in the league.

Regarding the "won't be hungry" angle, people really think KG and Pierce and Ray wouldn't want another? Hell, toward the end of the locker room party after game 6 Pierce was clearly heard on TV yelling "Let's do it again next year...let's win another one next year"...already.

Sounds pretty hungry to me!!
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

So. I'm enjoying #17 far too much to start focusing on next year. This is great. Ending the season with Gold is so great. Can't wait to see them raise #17 into the rafters next season. If you want to talk about next season, talk about that.

Well, at least they can't use the "Pierce, Allen, Garnett, and Doc Rivers are not winners" argument anymore, right?

of course they can repeat Rondo and Perkins will get better and the big 3s stats wont change as much....... And yo tell me after beening here at Minneapolis for 12 years and never go to the finals then you go to another city and win it all....you wont be hungry for another? Hell yes you would and "Dont never underestimate the heart of a champion"

It's possible there's slightly less hunger, but there will also be less pressure. If KG goes to the line for a couple big foul shots next year, he won't have the weight of the world on his shoulders. And Ray might have a shorter slump next year without having the 'this might be my only chance at a ring' cloud hanging over him.

When this team was assembled last offseason, the consensus seemed to be that the best chance at a ring would come next year. The team needed one year to gel, maybe take a tough playoff loss, and Rondo needed another year of seasoning. Now that they won, people are revising history.

Sadly, some still might. ESPN are chalk full of idiots who don't remember the past season.

Pile on the doubters, it's just more fuel for the fire. Anything can happen in the playoffs, but if this team is healthy they'll be instoppable in the regular season again. I'm just hoping we can get a bench player who can create for themselves on the offensive end, just to keep the pressure off Paul or Ray to always have to be on the floor. Tony Allen, where are you? Come back next year and show us the flashes weren't just a tease.

next year in theory it should be easier. None of those unecessary 7 game sereies. They know how to get it done. Like DET has for years now. They have just lacked the complete execution of it. They should have won the 2 time they went to the finals, and they didn't play well at all.

Who is better than the Celts now? Answer, No one!!!!

can they repeat? yes, celtics will have another 1-2 years of top competitive basketball until the decline from their big 3 outweighs improvements in their role players

will they repeat? time will tell, theres still the giant arms race thats still raging over on the west coast

^^^This should make it like the reverse of the 1980s, when the C's and 76ers had to beat each other up in a rugged, superior East while the Lakers could coast through the West every year except the two they didn't show up for and got bounced by Houston (1981 and 1986).

Now the C's can coast with the exception of Det and Cle in the East, while the Lakers will be slogging through the West with Phoenix, Houston, San Antonio, Utah, Portland, Golden State, Denver, Dallas, New Orleans...all quality teams.

Aren't they the only team with a chance to repeat (as champions) next year?

Correct. That's why it isn't much of a dig when someone tries to say the C's might not repeat. Nobody else has a chance to do it.

Speaking of repeating, we need a new slogan for #18.

I propose..... COMING TO AGE: THE CHASE FOR BANNER 18
