Does anyone think the Islanders would consider #5 for McCabe or for McCabe and the number 7. Ideally you'd like to not include our pick but if we had to we still remain with a top 10 pick and move McCabe at the same time. Islander's still get a top 10 pick and a strong defensemen with a reasonable contract over the next few seasons.

I definitely think this is one trade that Fletcher will try to do but of course it means that McCabe will have to waive his NTC and hopefully we can offer other draft choices or a player to supplement the trade but still retain #7 pick...

It also seems that Kubina's stock has risen, with his strong play at the end of the season. He appears to be one of Ron Wilson's favorite D, even mentioning him in glowing terms, when he was hired at his press conference...

Boedker is a phenominal skater, the best in the entire draft. He also's really strong on his skates and got a good base at 5'11 200 lbs. Good hands, good shot and adapted to the North american game very quickly. Reminds me alot of Mogilny in the open ice, but also draws some comparison's to Ales Hemsky. Boedker would be a very very solid pick at #7. I have him ranked ahead of Wilson and Hodgson.

From what Ive heard Kubina is as good as gone on Friday.

I'm slowly coming around to your pick Boedker, if in fact he turns out anything close to Mogilny, I will be very happy and it appears he is on most lists as #7 choice. I still like Hodgson but????...

Kubina's name keeps popping up in trade rumours with the LA Kings, with Brian Campbell opting for FA it could happen and the Kings have lots of picks so maybe something like this could go down.

Kubina and #60 pick to LA
#28 #32 and #48 picks to Toronto

This would give us 2-1st., 2-2nd., 2-3rd., 1-4th., and 3-5th round selections and we may be able to trade up and grab another 1st... :dontknow:

Boedker is who i'd like the leafs to pick but I actually think they will pick either Colin Wilson or Hodgson and If I had to guess right now i'd say Wilson. Wilson is a big and strong 2 way center and Burke would much rather draft a player like that then a flashy winger like Boedker. Either way were going to get a real good player at #7, either one with crazy speed/hands or a potential future captain who will be great in both ends of the ice (wilson/hodgson).

We traded the 7th pick and a 2nd & 3rd round pick from either this or next year-up to the Islanders.

Great move- this guy is an awesome prospect and I love this for the Leafs. he gets the Adam Foote comparison but I think he's more like Scott Stevens. He will be a cornerstone on our D for years to come.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have moved up in the draft as they send their 7th overall pick and a pair of conditional future picks to the New York Islanders in exchange for the Isles 5th overall pick. The conditional picks are either the Maple Leafs 60th overall pick this season and a third round pick next year or pick 68 from this draft and the Leafs second round pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

Love the move to get Schenn. I thought the Leafs were due to just settle again for what they would get, but this is the exact player we need. Great guy to pair with Kaberle.

The McCabe possibly waving his no trade to go to the Islanders was shot down by his agent. McCabe is not waving that for any team, he wants the buyout to collect the extra 3 mil per year on top of what he would get with the Islanders.

Unlike Tucker or Raycroft who can get bought out fairly cheap, McCabe can't and this is going to get real ugly between the team and him. It is not the distraction a rebuilding team needs. I see him being sent home rather than the leafs keeping him around pulling a VC and half-assing it until he gets his way.

If Pierre McGuire is any indication of what we got, then Luke Schenn is a franchise player...

I still think if McCabe isn't moving then for sure Kubina is... they'll want cap space for next offseason

Kubina HAS to move. This is the only guy that can be moved without his consent with a bigger salary. I think a reasonable asking price is 2 2nd rounders, there are still some gems on the board (I'd hope to take Niemi/Petrov/Toews/Staal/Deschamps).

I've been told that McCabe will probably be gone instead... despite what he says. He will be told to waive it or he won't play.

Who's the most likely candidate to become the new GM? Or is it already replaced? Sorry I am a Habs fan so I don't know much about the Leafs

Fletcher will remain the GM until next season, most likely.
