^^^This should make it like the reverse of the 1980s, when the C's and 76ers had to beat each other up in a rugged, superior East while the Lakers could coast through the West every year except the two they didn't show up for and got bounced by Houston (1981 and 1986).

Now the C's can coast with the exception of Det and Cle in the East, while the Lakers will be slogging through the West with Phoenix, Houston, San Antonio, Utah, Portland, Golden State, Denver, Dallas, New Orleans...all quality teams.

Pistons were better than the Lakers, as were the Cavs, talent/D wise. I see the East being more top-heavy and the West being top to bottom average to very good.
