Where: Madison Square Garden in New York City, can be seen on ESPN

Draft Choices: 3rd, 31st, and the 34th picks

This is very likely the most important draft of all time for the Timberwolves. We already have a nice young nucleus but it still seems we are one superstar and a few role players away from having championship potential(in a few years) :D

Anything could happen including trades but if we stand pat here are a few players that could possibly be our picks:
3rd Overall

31st and 34th picks

These picks are WAY too hard to predict and it depends on who's available so I'll just throw some names out there.

Jason Thompson, 6'11" C from Rider
Bill Walker, 6'6" SF from Kansas State
Nathan Jawai, 6'10" C from Cairns Taipons, International
DeVon Hardin, 6'11" C from California
etc.....

Draft Status

Well this is my 999th post. I'm saving my 1000th post until tomorrow night and it will be the name of our #3 pick in the draft. Sorry about the messed up picture at the top I accidently deleted it off my photobucket account and when i tried to edit it back in the whole thing just started going crazy so I'm going to leave it. Good luck and I'll hopefully see a bunch of you on this thread tomorrow night.

I am truly excited for the draft this year. More "drama" than I remember in recent years. I just know I will be holding my breath everytime Stern goes to the podium with the words,

"We have a trade....."

*gasp, passout*

Collin, you the man!

That 1000 post you'll be able to tell your kids that you used it to type " OJ MAYO!! AHHHH HELL YEAH, I AM GETTING WASTED TONIGHT " on an online message board. It will be an epic part of history.

With that said, LETS GO DRAFT NIGHT! OJ MAYOO

Um... the draft is tomorrow, right? Feel weird posting on 'The Official Draft Day Thread' before draft day.

RC, which would you prefer: a romantic evening with Ramiele, or a guarantee that the Wolves end up with Mayo?

Lets do the damn thizzle. It would be a GREAT day to end up with new jerseys, a fierce logo and OJ Mayo to sport it all. Im bringing the KG #10 Team USA jersey out of retirement tomorrow. That was my good luck charm throughout the 04 playoff run.

No. Not one bit. I keep picturing McHale posing for a pic under the ad with Adam Morrison and Eric Gordon saying "not this year.." in response to the ad..

Just kidding. I'm really hoping for the remaining of Rose/Beasley/Mayo - no gimmicks. No trading up using Brewer/McCants/future 1sts/other assets. No trading down unless the offer really really really blows you away.

This is going to be one of the most heart-pumping drafts I've seen in a while. I'm just not quite sure what is going to go down. I know I'm not alone on this sentiment..

I am looking forward to an entertaining evening. The amazing thing is how much opinions change on things after watching the ESPN special and listening to Majerus on Barriero. After both I start thinking a lot higher of Eric Gordon and am once again not on board with Love after starting to warm up to him.

Some interesting parts from Majerus:

Beasley: Majerus said the guy is talented, but his attitude still concerns him. Not a revelation.

Gordon: Majerus was as high on him as anyone not named Rose or Mayo. Said he thinks the turmoil at Indiana and the injury led to the late season drop off. ESPN discussed how he was the highest ranked member of this class 2-3 years ago and would've been higher ranked if he hadn't played with the broken hand and one GM said he'll be an All Star.

Love: Likes his game, but doesn't see how he translates to the NBA as he's too small and weak for the 4 and couldn't keep up at the 3. Sounded like a poor fit for MN as he thinks Al can be an elite PF, but just a decent C and we should look at keeping Al at PF and filling C another way.

Mayo: Best athlete in the draft. Majerus doesn't think he's a PG in the NBA but will be a great SG. Good fit for MN as he'd be their best guard so you still draft the best player and use the surplus of guards to fill the need for a big.

B. Lopez: Will be a serviceable C, but not an elite player. Thinks the same about Robin, but likes him as a mid to late round pick better than Brook as a top pick.

One interesting bit from ESPN was the thought that Kyle Weaver could be a very good NBA PG and could be a Josh Howard type who is drafted late but ends up one of the best players in the draft.

WHY can I see that exact situation happening. I can picture him shaking Gordon's hand with his big ass smile with the porn 'stache off to the side.
