We can get "support" talents to play alongside Wade and Beasley by trading Marion and Haslem.

Riley needs to forget about cap space, forget about trying to win it all next year, and most of all trying to trade the #2 pick!

The Heat need to rebuild and I can not think of a better squad that we can build around than Wade and Beasley. It's better than Wade-Brand, better than Wade-Boozer, and much much better than a squad like Wade-Bayless-Miller-Conley. Those teams are 2nd round and out. Wade-Beasley has the potential to be DYNASTY.

If Riley gets Brand in FA, Miller and Mayo in draft day trade, you gotta admit that Mayo/Wade/Miller/Brand is a good lineup. Dominant post player who can pick and roll with Wade, 4 guys who can create offense and defend, 2 very good 3 point shooters at the PG, SF position, shotblocking in the post, rebounding at every position. I mean, if Riley can pull that team out I'm ok with it, especially if he is confident that Mayo will end up being as good as Beasley.

If theres a way to get Brand through trade for Marion and we can keep our exceptions as well, thats a great team in a 1 year rebuild.

Those are a lot of big IFS.

There's no guarantee we get Mayo, Miller isn't anything special, and IF we don't manage to get Brand, we have a squad that looks worse than the one we can have with Beasley.

I really don't see what is wrong with building around Beasley and Wade. Marion and Haslem are two great pieces to trade away for other talent.

There is one thing I am starting to fear though, that Riley thinks Beasley is overrated. If that's the case, the Heat are doomed trade or not.

my 30 second 10-step procedure on what to do:

1. draft beasley
2. dont damn trade him
3. lock him here in miami
4. make sure he wont be on anotha jersey this season
5. sign him
6. keep beasley
7. concentrate on haslem and marion's futures, beasley>haslem riley
8. it doesnt mean if we dump blount that its a good trade for us
9. realise we can get brand either via free agency next season or via marion
10. there.

Since some mod locked the topic made by girlygirl. Which I don't understand just cause it's an outisders point of view. Many heat fans will probably will this way too if Beasley is @ #2 AND IF Riley trades him.

IMO i've enjoyed the heat posters coming to our boards and having discussions with us. If some of you haven't visited our board many discussions about Rose/Beasley/Mayo have been going on. Well having said that moving on...

girlygirl wrote:What is the matter with Pat Riley? Michael Beasley is PERFECT for this team. Wade at SG, Marion at SF and Beasley at PF is a trio that takes the heat right back into the playoffs.

Instead, he is thinking about drafting either Mayo or Bayless?

NEWS FLASH -- NEITHER ONE OF THESE KIDS IS A POINT GUARD! They are both SG/combo guards who dominate the ball. Exactly the WRONG kind of player to team with Dwyane Wade. Both are extrememly turnover prone and have poor shot selection and neither is a great outside shooter (wlthough both are better perimeter shooters than Wade).

And Beasley's so-called character issues worry him, but Mayo's don't? Mayo may land USC on probation because he allegedly took money, a plasma tv and other gifts from someone who was basically a go-between between the kid and an agent. Mayo also got suspended at least once while playing h.s. basketball.

Meanwhile, Bayless as far as I know doesn't have any off-the-court issues, but I saw one scout label him as a "me-first" player who doesn't make his teammates better.

Both Bayless and Mayo are very talented, but neither is likely to ever be as good of a pro as is Beasley. Riley can't be that loyal to Udonis Haslem as his starting PF, can he?? Just draft Beasley and TRADE for a PG. He can probably get someone like Ford, Hinrich or Lowry/Conley, etc. later this offseasonwithout having to give up a draft pick

Riley is dumbdumbdumb if he passes on Beasley for one of these combo guards who will likely never be a full-time PG in the pros.

I don't know what Mayo has shown Riley. But during draft camp he seemed to be on a mission trying to prove to scouts that he should be a top pick. Beasley character issues concern me I feel that he will try to make excuses for some of his actions. The same quote he been saying "I'm only 19" or "I'm feel that i'm mature for my age". However, I felt like influences of Wade and Marion would be more than enough to sway him. Then again, 19 year old NBA potential all-star in Miami Beasley could get into a lot of off the court issues.

I feel that Riley is trying to get the most talent to surround Wade with. If it's just beasley or a 2 for 1 special trade.

If the Bulls do, you would be complaining to much to ever hear it.

NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

All this time, my thinking is that Riley has been playing with us and just end up taking Beasley. Now I'm starting to have doubts.

I continue to be amazed that "Vinny Del Negro" makes it through the forum's language filter.

So why exactly would we be trading Wade (under your circumstances) if we're trying to build around young talented players. Shouldn't we be building around Wade (a top 5 player) instead of trading him for players of much lesser value.

I don't think we should mess around and try to trade the pick, we should just draft OJ Mayo at #2 straight out.
