17 pick is always a crabshoot and really you can only expect the likes of Graham there.

To be honest, what exactly are we losing here? TJ/Oneal injury risk cancel each other out. TJ is redundant on this team. Capspace is not a big issue because he is an expiring after this year. So all we are giving up is 17th pick for a guy who has potential to be All-Star and covers several of our weakness.

Wrong.
08/09 = $21 million
09/10 = $23 million (player option)
You're insane if you don't think he'll take that player option.

You are the wrong one actually. :D
He said that after next year O'Neal would be an expiring. With 2 years left on his contract right now, after this upcoming season he would be an expiring heading into 09/10.

Even as a hardcore TJ fan, getting O'neil is big. IF he stays healthy we'll make noise in the east. This is such a Bryan Colangelo move. It can go either way; if he gets injured, people will be calling for his head, if he stays healthy Colangelo is a sly dog. I just hope we can package our other assets for a good shooting guard. With Jermaine in the middle and Moon on the wing, i think we can package expirings for Michael Redd; he would be perfect as another offensive threat.

Jose
Redd
Moon
Bosh
O'neil.

I said this on Monday and will say it again: Jermaine is EXACTLY what this team needs. A defensive minded shotblocker/rebounder who is in his Prime. (based on his age) If i could have picked one guy in the league who was actually attainable it would have to be this guy.

It hurts to lose TJ. On the other hand, Jose was the better point guard. Ill never forget TJ's monster 5 game run in 05-06 against Portland-Seattle-Minnesota when he carried the team while Bosh was out. I'll miss him and certainly moniter Pacer games to see how he does.

Today we took a step toward competing with Boston-Orlando-Detroit. WE finally have a REAL CENTER!!! From Bradley-Mccoy-Mosio-Hoffa-Woods-Bargnani to Jermaine is an upgrade that cant even be calculated.

Well this is not a done deal yet but it does go through I really don't know how I feel about it. We are basically giving up all of our trade bait for a guy who does fill a need but has some serious injury problems. I would be much more comfortable if we made too seperate deals; say send Rasho and 17 plus whatever to the Cap ridden Suns for Barbossa and send TJ to Portland for Pryzbilla, Jack and 27.

What expirings? We don't have nearly enough. We will have AP and maybe Baston, about $6.3 million in total which means we might be able to take back $8 million. But I doubt there is a wing that good who we can get for those expirings.

No, I'd watch what we do with the MLE.

Too bad Jermaine's a pothead. Hey at least he'll get to taste some BC bud for his 2 year stay.

I'm not too disturbed that we have to give up the 17. BC said he would try to acquire a late first rounder if we did trade our pick, and even if he doesn't accomplish this I think there will be plenty of early second rounders that can be had for cheap. (Portland)

One thing is for damn sure though. Fans from opposing teams, watch out, don't step on the court or Jermaine's gonna get ya.

We'll have to see. JO's game has been deteriorating at a steady rate. He needs to bounce back to his level of 2-3 years ago to meet the expectations you have.

I've lowered mine somewhat.

I'd rather have Jermaine O'Neal for 2 years than Diaw or some other long term contract for like 5 years that hand cuffs us for a long time.

After 1 season (healthy or not), he becomes an intriguing expiring contract.

What are the expections? From this board?

I want 77 games, 19 points (because Bosh will still be the leading scorer at 22-23 a game) 11 rpg (what we NEED badly), 1.5 bpg, and a good 37-39 minutes a game.

I just hope JO stays healthy. As for him being motivated, thats a no brainer. Sam will keep him focused and playing besides another AllStar forward in Bosh will give JO lot to cheer about. Add to it that probably for the first time in his playing career, he'll have a pure passing PG like Jose to feed him the ball, his production will only increase and get more efficient. No doubt about that.

As for his health issues, I am sure a lot of you guys would have pulled this trade if it was Yao Ming involved in the trade. You would have probably thrown another pick and possibly andrea in there as well to get Yao. But Yao has not played more than 55 games per season for his last three seasons either. If anything, he is just as injury prone as JO. The only bright side is that Yao is a proper center, more productive, cheaper in terms of contract, a bit younger and also a lot bigger than JO. But in terms of health and injury scares, Yao also suffers from the same problem. Maybe JO will get rejuvinated once he arrives here and plays besides Bosh and Jose. Maybe he'll get worse, if anything, BC has pulled off another risky move.

My only beef with this move is that if, God forbid, JO goes down, and CV gets traded by Milwaukee to a team where he becomes a 201/0 guy, I'd be pissed that we essentially lost CV for injury-ridden players and the guy who was intrumental in CV being shipped out (Bargnani due to the fact he played the same position as CV) has been pretty much a bust.

Realistically id be very happy with 17/9/2 playing maybe 70-75 games.

JO is perfect for what he brings to the team, plus his contract isnt a long term albatros. This is very reminicent of the VC trade. Hopefully it works out for us like it did for the nets.
