Nuggest no longer have #20 pick.
The Nuggets have traded the #20 pick for a future first rounder from the Charlotte Bobcats.

I am done with this team! They should have traded a body instead of a pick. I understand that we would have paid the pick double due to the luxury tax, but we could have really used a Chalmers.

We had no use for Mario **** Chalmers. Just stop already.
What I'm pissed at is we took a fully lotto protected pick from the sorry ass Bobcats. That's more useless than a late second rounder.
I just hope they have something else planned cause I'm about to take a bat, head to the Walmart parking lot and smash some cars.

As a raptor fan and just looking from the outside.........this is horrible. Im assuming alot of Nugget fans arent going 2 be too pleased after finding this out. Seems to b all about the luxury tax, adding a young piece is second place.

I am not saying Chalmers is any kind of savior, nor am I sure he will be there at 20. But he is in my opinion an NBA ready PG who has a nice perimeter game and would allow AI to play the 2 where he would be more valuable. I would really take any warm body at PG that can dish the ball.
Additionally, rookie contracts are cheap. When a POS PG like Steve Blake signs an $11mil deal, it makes drafting Chalmers for $1.3 ($2.6 with tax) seem like a bargain.
Regardless youre paying someone to play 1. Why not roll the dice and maybe you end up with a D Williams or C Paul instead of an AC.

Good trade IMO. Bobcats suck and will suck next year so the pick will be in top 10. Plus we won't have to draft anybody with the 20th pick, and last time we had 20th (or 21st, still close) pick I recall we drafted a bust named Julius Hodge.

Unbelieveable, im gonna wait until there's more detail about the pick and hear the reasoning behind this madness of trading away our pick for a future pick which is protected before i start bashing these idiot but from the look of it seems like we got screwed again.
Damn i was looking forward to watching the draft tomorow but now i guess i'll pass.

Re: Nuggest no longer have #20 pick.
hmmm...
why couldn't they wait to this on draft night? i was looking all week long to the draft hoping for a speights, or chalmers... if those 2 aren't around, then sure do it an in instance.
and its lottery protected as well... we just better hope the bobcats can sneak into the playoffs and have an exit.
i dont know about u guys... but choosing not to take Artest over LK (though he made it clear he won't opt out), not firing GK despite his problems... and now this.
out FO are really full of pussies.

Re: Nuggest no longer have #20 pick.
He's not even a real point guard
His shot is questionable from NBA 3
His defense is overrated
He doesn't have the speed required to be an NBA point guard
Not a great passer
He's short
And after all that, he'd still be a rookie. Do you really think Karl will even play him over Atkins? Atkins would eat up most the minutes at the point, AI will eat up the rest. And to put him at the 2 is out of the question with JR and LK. Mario would just replace Yak's role on the bench.
I never understood the obsession with Mario. He's not even the best point guard left at 20, IMO.

Mario Chalmers:
can he play defense? tick.
can he hit open shots? tick.
is he clutch? tick.
would he be able to play next to Melo and AI? tick.
thats basically all the requirements needed to play in this team without being an all-star.
well the more i think about this trade, we get potentially 2 firsts next year... so it makes good trade bait along with AI's expiring. we might be able to pull a block buster trade if things don't go right (ala Kwame Brown!).
it also saves them money... though this is what they'd do if given the opportunity.

You can't 'tick' him on defense or shooting because both are completely different at college level. There have been a lot of college defenders who couldn't cut it at this level.
You can make anyone sound good if you just list their few so-called strengths. How is that all the requirements?

Why am i not surprised. Here are the stips to the pick we got from the bobcats
http://www.denverpost.com/nuggets/ci_9692488
This benefits us how???

The future first-round pick is protected by Charlotte in this regard: If the pick falls in the lottery next draft, it still belongs to Charlotte. But if Charlotte makes the playoffs, and the pick thus isn't in the lottery, the pick belongs to Denver.
The following year, if it wasn't used by Denver the previous year, the pick still belongs to Charlotte if it's 1-12. Following year protections are 1-10, 1-8 and finally 1-3.

Those stipulations on the pick hurt the most, but Larry Brown could turn this team into a playoff team and we would get the pick next year or we can package it and a player for something. It isn't the end of the world, whoever we would have picked wasn't going to get any minutes anyway because GK doesn't like to play rookies.
Chris Duhon??

Re: Nuggest no longer have #20 pick.
I'll reserve judgment at this point, because I can only assume that the front-office (whoever that is) has some plan for addressing the glaring void at PG. Say what you want about Chalmers, but I believe he's going to make an impact, even if initially as a backup. He's a solid defender who can hit an open 3, for starters (unlike any of our current prospects at that position). And that's good value at 20. In any event, neither Atkins nor Carter are legit starters.
If it turns out that we dumped this pick for luxury tax reasons exclusively, and the team doesn't make a move to significantly improve at the point, I'm going to be pretty pissed. The West isn't getting easier next season. Let's hope that a positive move that we can be excited about is on the horizon.

Re: Nuggest no longer have #20 pick.
i dont think AC will be here next year.
they'll be using that money to re-sign JR Smith (hence why they traded away the first round draft pick). the same could be said to Eddie.
if this team is going to have any major changes, it will be via trades not FA.

There is still time to trade some salary for a higher pick.
There is also time to trade some salary for a seasoned NBA player that fits the pizzle perfectly.
Although minor moves in no way mean actually making the team better.....just making moves so it looks like a "wise financial decision" appears to have occurred.
Justify the luxury tax that could be spent on making the team actually better.

As a Bobcats fan first let me say "thank you"....now to the person who made the comment about the sorry ass bobcats....your right we are a lottery team and you made the playoffs...how did that work out for you?!? You have one great young player in 'Melo, one aging great player in AI and a good young player(which on ESPN they are saying your going to lose) in JR and the rest is junk...in a year or 2 the bobcats will be better than the nuggets and 'Melo probably wont be there..... you can have that protected pick......

You do know BSPN is the right name for ESPN? They've been reporting a lot of crap.
And how exactly are the Nuggets losing JR? They can match anything and most likely will.

Oh please....
First off, the comment was just directed to the FO. Though it seemed like it, I was not trying to insult your team. It's just that taking a fully protected pick from a bad team is ridiculously stupid.
Second, please don't try to trash our team when you're a fan of the freakin' Bobcats. There, that would be an insult to your team.
