I got some FIRST HAND INFO, that's it's been Wade who has been pushing Mayo on to the staff. He's so stuck on finding a back-court partner, and that's why Riley and Pfund is going that extra mile to see what's out there.

If this is truly the case, Wade is falling in the line of great players turned idiot GM's/Scout's of talent ala Jordan, Bird.....

Well, for what its worth, there was a rumored supposed deal being TALKED about...NOT being completed......

Andre Miller, Reggie Evans, and POSSIBLY #16 for

Marion and Cook

Cook only gets added if the #16th pick is added.

Otherwise it's Miller, Evans for Marion....

Take it for what it is...a rumor about a deal that may or may not happen.

BFRESH, is the "first-hand" person really, really legit?

I'm pretty good friends with Mickey Arison's daughter's boyfriend. Texting him as I type.

Yea the worst thing would be Wade giving Rileys advice....if he was you know hes pushing for Wright to stay, or probably saying were set at PF cause of Udonis, talking about how he needs a PG next to him....last i checked we have the MLE.

Yea man, though I'm not one to drop names. But, F it for the sake the anxious cats like me: One of the Heat's top scouts Adam Simon, I'm good potna's with his brother. I was talking to him about the draft and stuff like that, that's what he told me. So I'm assuming that's legitmate and something that came from up top.

That's really not 'secret info' but more of a confirmation. Because Wade has made it no secret that he's down with Mayo.

I'm officially scuured.

This deal is B.S, I know it's b.s on the premise that not 1 not 2 but 3 teams are passing on Beasley.

Don't worry Heat fans, less than 24 hours to go...

If it really is Wade doing this pushing for Mayo..

This explains the fist pump at #2 spot during the lottery drawings, when it was first thought that Beasley would go #1, and Rose would go #2 to the heat.

If Michael Beasley is not announced at number 2, we lose. Another L. That simple. 15-68.

Fortunately, Wade doesn't have the final say. I just hope and pray a talent like Beasley isn't simply passed on without any kind of compensation. If Mayo is the pick, fine, but it would have to be as part of a trade down

You'd like to think Wade doesn't have any final say(especially if this rings true), but man I'm sure Riley/Pfund have open ears everytime he chimes in, though.

If Mayo is our guy in any capacity, even in a trade down where we dump Blount completly, or get a Mike Miller, I will still be infuriated, man.

B-Easy put up more double doubles than any freshamn in college ball EVER. E-V-E-R. Think about that for a second.

I'm sure Riley and the staff know way more about Beasley and the other prospects than we do, if they don't think it's the right move, we should trust them. If this really isn't a smoke screen and we pass on Beasley, it will be for a reason.

I'm a Bucks fan. Someone has posted the following hypothetical scenario on our board, thought I'd gauge your reaction:

Miami sends Marion and #2 (Mayo) to LA for Brand and #7. They then use #7 on Bayless who is the other guy they have brought in for multiple workouts.

Minny sends #3 (Beasley)/Walker to Milwaukee for #8 (Joe Alexander), Mo/Yi or Beasley/Walker/Jaric for Alexander/Mo/CV/Mason. Minny gets to dump all of their bad contracts and make a run at the big free agent class next offseason while still getting the guy they supposedly target.

I'm sure we would know something because something that important that would hold us from drafting a talent like him would have to be a huge negative that would somehow leak. This is giving me horrible flashbacks to a Miami Dolphins Ted Ginn - Quinn incident.

Ford on ESPNews claiming the Heat want to dump Blount if they trade down. Says his personal opinion Heat take Beasley if they don't trade down.

Lane1974 wrote:Elton Brand is the type of move that could thrust them back to the top of the East... and consider moving #7 for Mike Miller or someone at that point.. you win with star veterans, not with wishin and hopin for guys to pan out, if that was the case the Hawks and Grizzlies and and Bobcats and teams with perpetual top 10 picks would be on top of the league, but the teams that are at the top now and recently are veteran loaded like the Spurs, Celtics, Phoenix, Lakers, Pistons, Mavericks, and the Heat from a few years ago.

San Antonio rebuilt their team through the draft (Parker, Ginobili, and Duncan) and then surrounded that talent with veterans. (Essentially been a dynasty)

New Orleans built their team through the draft (Paul and West) and added veteran guys via trade (Chandler) and free agency (Peja). (One of the best teams in the West)

Miami built its team through the draft (Butler and Wade) and then added via free agency (Odom) and trade (Shaq). (Won the title)

Dallas built their team through the draft (Dirk and Howard) and then added other pieces via trade and free agency. (Went to the Finals)

Portland looks quite promising and they've built through the draft (granted, they have been bad for a few years now).

It just depends on some luck and picking the right guys. Some teams have picked one guy and he has changed their franchise. (See: Orlando-Howard; Cleveland-LeBron; Houston-Ming; Miami-Wade; Phoenix-Amare)

Other really good teams were built almost entirely via trades and free agency. (See: late 90s Sacramento; current Pistons; Boston; late 90s Blazers)

Anyway, I think selecting Beasley, if he falls to us, is building in a similar fashion to how New Orleans built. As long as we don't take on any long-term money, we're going to have a chance to add a player via free agency in '09 or '10 or through trade, with Marion and/or Haslem as the bait.

We have unlimited options to make our team better. Throwing all those options away in the name of Elton Brand (assuming the deal that is purported to be in place is Marion and #2 for Brand and #7) puts all our eggs into one basket.
