It looks like we'll be drafting for Indiana then.

If he doesnt pan out, we have a huge expiring on our hands which could net us assets.

If he does pan out, were contenders in the East.

It's a win win situation.

exactly...we can't lose with this one...

maybe if JO had like 5 years left on that monster contract, but he doesn't....

2 expiring vets that help now. A young big to add to the Scottie timeline
I'd prefer to keep Stew and give Monte Morris
I'd really prefer to keep Morris and Stew and give the great Killian Hayes and 2nd round picks

Ya'll just got a great deal. I really do not like this as a Pacers fan, but I will be watching a lot of Raptor games to see JO.

Everytime someone complains about JO knees, they should in the same sentence mention TJ spine/stingers and that TJ's missed a complete season before.

When we traded CV for TJ, everyone was you dont trade big for small. Well this time we went small big, where are the props for that?

Thanks for that. I think you'll like T.J. more than you might think -- he's talented and feisty.

my biggest fear is the backup PG position . Are we going to have a huge dropoff with our second unit?

I hope the Raptors make other moves as well because this move isn't going to improve the team too much. We still have big holes at other positions.

And now everyone's back on the BC bandwagon ;).

Great trade for TOR. I'm glad you guys went out and got O'Neal instead of trading for Boris, which wouldn't have worked well IMO.

whysoserious wrote:I don't know how I feel about this trade. On one end I'm excited about the prospects of JO and Bosh with Bargs coming off the bench, on the other hand we still haven't addressed the need for a big time wing player and now likely don't have the assets to do so.

At the end of the day, the best thing about this is that we are going after some stars. This is a fair deal for both teams. Both key player's have a history of injuries and although giving up the pick hurts it is necessary to complete the deal.

Maybe Colangelo can work his magic and pick up a late first rounder and get a prospect wing player.

The thing is we need both a center, and a better wing, and we really don't have the peices to get both. So if we got a wing with our assets we'd be saying " we're still not going to go anywhere with piss poor rebounding, and interior defence"

This is the way I see it.

Are we going to get better? Yes.

Are we spending the same amount of money either way? Yes

Does this adress key issues that made this team unbearable to watch at times? Yes rebounding, and interior defence should be a huge asset now with Moon, Bosh, J.O frontcourt instead of a huge liability. Block Party!!

BTW this might actually make Kapono a lotr better. Look at how well he played when Bosh was the focus of defences last year., Now teams can't leave J.O open, Bosh open, Calderon open, so Kapono could very well be gettting way more open looks.

I'm shocked this thread has not reached 30+ pages yet....considering the Juan Dixon for the Gangsta deal was mind-blowingly lengthy. :o

I'm looking forward to training camp!

O'Neal/Bargnani
Bosh/Humphries (unless BC signs someone else)
Kapono/Moon
Parker/Delfino
Calderon/Ukic

Graham and Baston at the end of the bench. I assume they're not resigning Brezec.

I just realized that it can't happen as JO + Artest don't get along....time to look elsewhere.

That's an awful lineup. Huge holes at the 2 and 3 position and there is no proven backup pg at this time.

Pacer fan, here, guys. I'm pretty happy with this deal. I think it makes sense for our future, and I like taking my chances with TJ Ford...he'll be a huge upgrade over Droopy McTinsleberry.

For JO's side, I'm hopeful he can stay healthy for you. He did come back too soon from his injury last year, and it screwed him up.

However, if you go back prior to this knee injury, he was putting up some pretty big numbers. Through the end of February in the 2006-2007 season, JO had played in 50 of 56 games, averaging 20.1 pts, 10.3 rebs, and 3.1 blocks on 45% shooting.

I know you guys are taking on a risk, but I'm hopeful he can be a 70+ game per year player for you...and if he is, you'll be pretty happy...

So, good luck, and here's hoping you see 16-8-3 over 70+ games the next couple of years.
I have no idea what you're talking about, and clearly, neither do you.

This is definitely not BC last move either. ;)
