the annoying thing is:

we have to wait 2 weeks for this trade to go through.

TWO WEEKS of speculation?!!?!?

any point in watching who the raptors draft tomorrow?

Think about it... this move is a STEAL. Last season Bird was rejecting the Nets offers of Jefferson+M.Williams+Nets 2007 pick for Jermaine O'Neal and Vince Carter for Jermaine O'Neal. Now we just gave them a good but not great PG that is one hit away from a career ending injury+a solid bigman that is replaceable and a 17th pick which will not be a star. We receive a IF healthy 20+10+2-3 blocks guy and I think he wont get any major injuries because he will be motivated to rehab that knee and make it feel strong playing aside Bosh. This is what I expect from Jermaine O'Neal next season:
MPG: 33 MPG
GP: 65-70 Games Played
PPG: 17
RPG: 8
BPG: 2.5
APG: 3
And very strong interior D and some leadership for Bargs and Bosh.

Starting 5 I see on the court next year:
Calderon(5 years 42 million)/Duhon (Signed 3 years 10 million)
Parker/Delfino (Resigned 2 years 8 million)/Ukic
Moon/Kapono/Delfino
Bosh/Hump/Bargs
O'Neal/Bargs/Doleac

It's because everyone feels the need to create new threads.

Yeah...what's up with all the new threads anyway? :-? At least this thread has finally reached 30 pages...if it doesn't surpass the Dixon/Brezec trade thread, the Raptors board is officially nuts. Lol.

On a side note, does anyone know when we'll know what will happen to Delfino and Brezec? ...whether they're let go or officially resigned?

I'd like to keep Delfino, I think he played well during the 1st half of the season...I'm not sure what happened in the 2nd half. But I feel he's a solid defensive player and he's often takes charges (even though he flops at times). So with Bosh, O'Neal, Delfino, and Moon on the floor with Calderon, I think that's a solid defensive line up.

I have always thought of Ford as a sub-par defender, but I would like to know what you guys think of him on that end. Also how much do you think the injury effected his game last year? Did he seem to get fully healthy and play to his full capabilities for any long stretch of time last year?

I think Ford could be a good defender, but Mitchell wasn't the right coach for him. Ford is obviously quick and feisty on D, but with Mitchell's system (or lack thereof) Ford was often left in no man's land. Ford is very short, and I think he is slow to react, so when the ball swings to his man, the guy more often than not has a wide open shot. I suspect of O'brien is a much better coach than Mitchell, and I think Ford can be a good defender. He has the foot-speed and works hard. Guys like Billups and Kidd post him up occasionally, but I don't think it is a huge weakness that teams can exploit.

why 2 weeks? Is it because of Ford's contract clause?
edit: clause is probably not the right word...but I think it involves Ford's salary counting as 100% or something along those lines....?

Or did we flip VC, Charlie V and the 17th into Oneal?
Jose "Hammy" Calderon - where Gatorade at the half clouding rational judgment happens, and where "hamstring" injuries linger all season long.

If I were O'Neal, I would do everything in my power this off season to improve my knee. Rehab, Conditioning, Eating Healthy, Avoiding Slippery Surfaces, Chinese Herbal Medicine/Accupuncture, Wrapping my kids in foam, whatever! HE HAS to be Psyched about playing next to Bosh and the raptors, if he is in that mindset, I think the team can succeed

Just reading Michael Granges story on Globesports dated at 9:31pm , he states this trade is just 1 scenario there are others on the table, so let's not get ahead of ourselves. http://www.globesports.com/servlet/stor ... tball/home

As a franchise, you can include VC. But BC's magic does not include trading VC.

There's so little activity in here because the thread is hard to find. I know that sounds dumb, but I usually don't look at the stickies because I expect those long-term threads. I only knew the trade had happened because of the tone of the other threads, then thought to look up.
