What type of bull crap is this ?

TJ Ford, Rasho + 17th for O'Neal.

Our offer was much better than the crap they're offering IMO.

Yeah, they needed a PG and wanted another pick. Even though Ford is a risk, his contract isn't as long as RJ, Rasho is solid and an expiring.

On paper we could make a better deal, but it's not really what they wanted.

Yeah if JO stays healthy, they're gonna be sick. My only concern for them is can Bosh and JO co-exist. JO has to downgrade his role offensively. Basically switch to doing all the intangibles and whatnot. If he can throw down like 15 and 8 with 2-3 blocks a game, I think that would be badass without hurting bosh's production significantly.

Toronto got the best of this deal if it goes down which I'm sure it will. This puts Toronto in contention for the Eastern Conference Finals or NBA Finals. But, the big question is is JO going to be healthy

I may have been the minority, but I was completely against dealing RJ for what seems likely to be 40-55 games of JO.

I think Indy got nice value (though Ford has his own health issues) for JO and am glad we don't have to worry about him coming to NJ any time soon.

Honestly, if he knee holds up, he's gonna be a solid asset to any team. He's a solid defensive presence and isn't worthless on offense. Besides his questionable knee the only other problem people have is his contract.

To me it was perfect for Toronto and a risk they had to take if they wanted to contend. If his knee holds up, they got a shot at the Eastern Conference Finals the next 2 years...but also his MASSIVE contract comes off the books in 2010...just in time to resign Bosh long term when he becomes a UFA.

Meh this isnt really bad news at all trading an RJ package for Oneil wouldnt have made us any better and there was no way we could have kept Vince,RJ,Harris and add Oneil because those 4 players would cover well over 85% of our cap space.

If on July 1st we got Pietrus to sign for the full MLE, I'd be all for shipping RJ out for a legit 4. Otherwise, we gotta find a 4 on a team willing to take Stro/Filler

Pacers management is (Please Use More Appropriate Word)... What I'm kind of worried about for the Nets though is this potential #10 + Marcus for #13 + Jack deal. If the Nets were the ones trading up I wouldn't mind throwing in Marcus but the Nets are trading down and despite popular misconception Jack isn't really that much of an upgrade at the point.

On the brightside (well for the Blazers / WIlliams) I think the Blazers are a team where Marcus could really prosper.

They clearly wanted a decent player, a decent expiring, and a pick

In other words, they basically got almost EXACTLY what we got for Jason Kidd. I just think we got a better PG and a 2010 pick that could potentially be a lottery pick if the Mavericks don't make some changes over the next 2 years.

Could have come up with a better deal? Most definitely but they wanted a PG, we wouldn't give up Harris for JO in a million years and Ford's contract is Manageable. They definitely would have taken Harris/Stro/Hassell/#10 over the deal they got. Hell I'm possitive Bird even made the exploratory call with a deal similar to that. No way would we do that, so they went to were they could get the best bang for their buck which was Toronto.

Personally if Detroit wasn't in their division, I would almost guarantee those 2 teams would have come to an agreement with Chauncey being the focal point.

Great value for Indiana - T.J. Ford is clearly a starting point guard, and Jermaine O'Neal was done in Indiana.

If JO is healthy, he could play the David Robinson role next to Bosh - focusing on defense and rebounding. Might resurrect his career. It's key for Toronto that JO be healthy - if he is, this trade is a slam dunk. If not, well.... not so much.
