Jeff Van Gundy on ESPN just said that the Raptors are now the third best team in the East. Mark Jackson also said he favours this trade for the Raptors. Obviously this assuming JO remains healthy. We need one more move for a SF/SG and we can be even better.

On the flip side the poster who created the thread let's tank for Ricky Rubio might get his wish

On the flip side, if JO comes back healthy and firing all cylinders, we could potentially have 3 players at ASG!

And if, God forbid, both JO and CB go down with injuries, fear not! Jose will be the franchise player!

It's been well over a year since I last posted (as I remember anyway). The trade is solid. We're a better team this upcoming season but it equally doesn't give us even a chance of competing for a championship. Still though, JO is a great defender and will only help Bosh develop. I'm expecting 17 and 8 with 2 blocks a game. Very good production. 60 games total.

Someone said the two had similar offensive games but I disagree. They may have similar athletic ability but one likes to play inside, one likes to play midrange and use his athletic ability to generate points.

I also don't think this hurts AB. The guy needs as little of spotlight as possible and he'll have a chance to spot start with JO's downtime and Bosh. Besides, who's to say he can't play at least 10 games ayear at SF? He matches up just fine to quite a few teams out there. For the select few he doesn't just start Moon.

Tebor is back! Kind of...

Obviously angling for TV and assistant coach gigs, respectively

JVG is da man though.

Bosh seems to like the trade a lot. He seemed very excited on the interview that Sportsnet did. I wonder what Jermaine thinks of the trade.

I don't mind this move, however clearly this was a salary dump for Indiana, I don't think we needded to give up a pick (Although mid round selection). I mean lakers got gasol who's younger, and somewhat similar to JO, for less, yes Grizz were desperate, but they didn't get anything but LATE LATE firsts, some scrubby PG, and expiring.

We actually gave up some talent in TJ ford who injury prone, but so is JO.

I actually was hoping for more defensive beast/rebounder in Camby (Makes less), is older, but has playted in more games than JO the past 2 years, plus I think his rebounding, and blocking ability, obviously get less scoring as well, but like he was key to denver, I think he'd be key to raps.

Anyways not bad, i'm just curious what were the "other" TJ offers.

Love the trade....

For obvious reasons...my least favorite Raptor of all time is gone and with him gone...I can love the Raptors with passion again!

Only concern is JO's health and the 2/3 spot!

Indiana raped, pillaged, and burned the Toronto franchise to the ground with this trade.

There's no way in hell I would have been there wanting to try and outbid them.

Let's all take a moment and laugh at this ridiculous statement, please.

what are the chances that the trade does not go thru?

I know these "trades in principle" happen every year around draft time. And I can't remember one in recent history falling thru before the waiting period.

thoughts?

O'Neal/Bargnani/?
Bosh/Hump/?
Kapono/Moon/?
Parker/Delfino/?
Jose/Ukic/?

going to be interesting. going to have so many new faces that it'll feel like 07-08 season all over again. not sure with the same type of success. summer/training camp's going to be real interesting. wonder what veteran players we could attract with little money to spend. MLE on Ukic. so, only LLE and min.

Good question....... I mean now EVERY team knows what the offers are, can't they just phone up either Ind/Tor and offer something slightly better now? Isn't all of this just a "verbal" agreement?

I won't believe we included our pick until JO puts on a raptor uniform.

so who do we have left on the team?

JO
Bosh
Kapono
Moon
Calderon--will be re-signed

Parker
Bargnani
Hump
Baston
Graham.
Delfino--restricted free agent

we will have to send some filler to Indiana, so we will be minus another player/players...

that's a lot of spots to fill on the bench...

Return to Toronto Raptors
