3waytrade..

Post#1 » by NashtyNas » Thu Jun 26, 2008 4:56 am

After looking at that NY-MEM trade, i was about to puke. I came up with a much better trade that helps us move up to get Mayo (gaurantee). 3 way trade between Grizz-Wolves-Suns.

Mem Trades: Mike Conley, Mike Miller, 5th Pick, Future Second Pick, 28th Pick
Mem Gets: Leandro Barbosa, Greg Buckner, Mark Madsen, 15th Pick, 3rd Pick

Wolves Trade: Greg Bucker, Mark Madsen, 3rd Pick, 31st Pick
Wolves Get: Boris Diaw, 5th Pick, 48th Pick (suns) , Future Second Pick (Memphis)

Suns Trade: Boris Diaw, Leandro Barbosa, 15th Pick
Suns Get: Mike Miller, Mike Conley, 31st Pick (wolves), 28th Pick (Memphis)

Mem Roster:
Lowry/Critt/Leandro
Mayo(3rd)/Leandro/Buckner
Rudy/FA(Pietrus)?/Bucker
Warrick/Darrel Arthur (15th)/Cardinal
MGasol/Milicic/Madsen

Wolves Roster:
Jaric/Telfair/Dragic (48th)
Foye/McCants
Diaw/Brewer
Jefferson/Smith
Brook Lopez (5th)/Doleac

Suns Roster:
Nash/Conley/Strawberry
Bell/Miller/Tucker
Hill/CDR (28th)/Miller
Stoudemire/ Devon Harding / Skinner
Shaq/ Devon Harding (31st) / Skinner

Anybody like this deal? I think all 3 teams get what they need..
EDITED TO: Include second round picks going from Memphis and Suns to Wolves, and one from wolves to suns. Also suns/grizz swap 15 for 28.

Wolves get: 5th Pick, 48th Pick, Boris Diaw, Future Second Round Pick (Grizzlies)
Grizzlies get: 3rd Pick, 15th pick, Leandro Barbosa, Greg Bucker, Mark Madsen
Suns get: Mike Conley, Mike Miller, 31st Pick, 28th Pick

This is simply awful for MIN.

Does Diaw, with that horribly long contract, even have positive trade value? Probably not here, if anywhere.

Incidently, Buckner's deal can be bought out for $1 mil next season, so he's essentially an expiring. The wolves are not rushing to move Madsen, who is the best guy in the community, and a big guy back-up who'swho has a deal in the $2's is not a problem. And if you've looked at any Mayo offers at all, you'd have seen that this offer isn't even close.

hey that must be a new smiley. Very appropriate. Conley, Barbosa and the #5 pick all move hands and none of them are headed to us when we give up the most valuable piece in the whole deal. Madsen

Ok heres the basics you need to know before posting trades with Minny in them.

Buckner is only guaranteed $1m after next season so he is as close to an expiring as makes no difference.

Walker has a team option in his deal after next year so he is an expiring.

Madsen is overpaid but not by an amount that makes any difference to the teams cap situation and he is loved in Minnesota (just not for his bball skills).Moving him is probably a slight negative to us due to this fact.

Jaric is a bad deal but he is moderately useful as a bench guy who can cover 3 positions and whilst moving him would make us happy it isn't a priority that is going to lead to us getting screwed on the talent side of a deal just to move him.

^ I still believe this deal is better for Minny though (the edited 5th pick deal). You drop to spots, all the while adding diaw, getting rid of some stupid contracts, and getting 2 second's for one. Thats not too as bad as you think. Don't count Diaw as his numbers from 07-08 because those numbers were from very little PT and he was the 5th option. On your offense he will be the 2nd or 3rd option and he would flourish well i believe with Foye who is a much better 2 gaurd than Bell or Barbosa offensively.

The problem is Diaw isnt a 2nd or 3rd banana. He souldnt be relied on as a go-to option and he proved that both seasons since winning the MIP. He struggles with his aggressiveness and IMO is not worth the contract he has. The last thing we need is another 2nd rnd pick.

As far as him not getting PT? He averaged almost 30 mpg in the regular season and averaged a whopping 35 mpg in the playoffs. He averaged 8 ppg in the reg. season and almost 15 in the playoffs. I really dont think his lack of production is due to lack of minutes.

You should do some more research before making any other assumptions.

^ Umm it is lack of PT and lack of being the 1st-2nd option. I said that in my post. He was used as the 4th sometimes 5th option in phoenix, while in the playoffs used as second because it was a mismatch on him with finley or barry. And the 15ppg in playoffs is exactly why i think he is worthy to play in your system as the 2nd banana. AJ is clearly your first option, and Diaw could take the 2nd option on offense easily because he would be the facilitator on the low block. He can shoot from there, pass very effieciently (kick out to shooters AKA FOYE), or leave it for AJ to clean up. He would fit into your team very nicely even if you seem to dislike his contract. 17-7-5 would probably end up being his numbers, if not a little more points. He rebounds extremely well for the 3 position, which you guys need help at anyways. I dont see why you dispise the edited version so much.

You expect Diaw to get off of PHO's high scoring team, away from Steve Nash, come here, and produce more?

MIN just spent the last five trades getting rid of its long contracts. Jaric is the only one that is left. Even if you were right about Diaw blossoming away from PHO, there is no way MIN is going to take a longer, bigger contract on ($9 mil/year through 2012!) to gamble that he would. AND to go lose out on Mayo too? No way.

If Diaw is so valuable, send him to another team, and send MIN the profits. I think you're going to find no takers though.

Dude, I'm sorry. This trade is absolutely terrible. Diaw is NOT the answer for a 2nd or 3rd option if that team plans on being any good at all. And then, the contracts you got rid of aren't even that bad.
