I totally see the Pacers taking Randolph at 11(him or Gordon if he slips). Why? They just move JO. They need a HUGE upside guy and Randolph has more upside than just about anyone in this draft, let alone at #11. I see them looking at Chalmers at #17 for PG depth.

I think the Pacers are going to take Randolph at 11 leaving us with Augustin. Eh, not too bad but the track record of under 6 foot tall PG's in the NBA isn't all that great.
I don't get all that Beno talk with Grant saying the Clipps can offer more than us, I am pretty sure they are going to be over the cap. Beno just better hope the Kings don't land a PG! If we do there goes significant bargaining power for Beno.

I don't think of Augustin's height as wholey as big a concern as people are making it out to be. Like BMiller and kingsfan10 said, he's got a good leap and good wingspan. Being two inches shorter then Mike bibby, or Steve Nash, isn't going to make him an less effective passer/shooter, and his defense will obviously have to focus on his speed.
I'm going to say this now. If Augustin is there at 12, and we don't pick him, I will be wholely disapointed. ANd if he is taken, I could see us signing Beno for another year to hold down the fort. I think Augustin can become a top 10 PG from what I've seen of him, and I will stake money on it.

From the sounds of it, Maggette is probably going to opt out of his contract and there is talk of the Clippers opting out of Livingston's last year of his contract--either of which would give them more than enough cap space.

Yeah but letting Maggette go so you can sign Beno Udrih is...well...kind of stupid. They have to either re-sign Maggette or do a sign and trade. They have to get something for a talent like that, especially since they have been so hesitant to trade him all these years.

I don't think they''ve really been hesitant to trade him, they probably just haven't gotten decent offers--probably because most teams know that Maggette's stats far outweigh how much he actually helps his team.
But that's irrelevant because even if Maggette does re-sign for a reasonable amount, they should have enough space if they let Livingston go.

Is it just me or does it seem like Portland bought the 27th to package the 13th and 27th to NJ for the 10th. There at 10, the Trailblazers select DJ Augustine. Then t 11, the pacers select Arthur. Then Ill promptly go into the bathroom and proceed to vomit.

Something like that is quite possible. But it just means we would have to make a value pick because that would mean that Gallinari and/or Gordon would have to be available. I'd be satisfied with that.

lol...Yeah, I would assume that. But I hope that doesn't happens. Either way, there is going to be a high skill player will drop to us, if everything goes in place. Probably Gallinari/Randolph/Gordon or etc..
Another scenario is that the Portland might deal US directly. Assuming that the Nets have made a promise to Galinari (It is likely due to sources) and the Nets do not want to trade the pick. We might end up with the #13 and the #27 or the #33.

If were going to take a wing with our highest pick, it really should then be automatic we get a big man that can defend and rebound later somewhere.
I'd be like, just as happy getting Joey Dorsey as I would be getting Arthur.
I actually think I read the Pacers liked Randolph a lot.

What if Petrie doesn't think that Dorsey (for instance) can play in this league? Let's not forget that that's kind of the most important question here.

Then I think Petrie needs to check himself.
It's not like I wouldn't be happy if we got one of the other bigs like Hendrix, Thompson, White, Hardin, Hickson. I just like Dorsey a bit more because of his strengths and how they relate to this team, as well as him being a winner in college, a bonus.
Like I said, a big that can be a defensive and rebounding presence.
And of course I meant Dorsey in the 2nd round... and while I wouldn't expect it as much, even in the very late 1st round if we didn't have a high enough of a 2nd rounder.

You all know damn straight that Petrie would LOVE to draft Gallinari at 12.

Re: O'neal for ford and 17th!
I personally think NJ isn't so interested in the Portland trade because of Gallinari.
I regress. A SF who can shoot and can't defend. A Petrie pick in the works. But why do we need a Small Forward? If Augustin and Arthur are gone, I wouldn't be surprised to see us take Galinari if he's there, but i'd rather take other pieces.

Re: O'neal for ford and 17th!
I think it would be prudent of Jeff to put out word that he's indeed interested in drafting Gallinari. This way, it prevents NJ from making the deal. From what Ive read, it looks like Jersey would be willing to deal with portland and get the 13th only if they believed that Gallinari would still be there. They cant afford to call Petrie's bluff and make that trade if they believe sacramento will take him at 12.
And if they do make the deal, Id draft Danilo at 12, and hold him hostage with the intent of trading him to Jersey for the 13th and one of their other first rounders.

But if a guy can't play he can't play. And I'm not saying that that is specifically true with Dorsey or that Geoff necessarily thinks that, but I'm just saying that I won't be surprised if Geoff doesn't take him because most 2nd rounders don't make it in the league, and it would be wrong to just assume that Dorsey definitely will just because he seems to really fit our needs.

Okay.
Well that probably won't be the case with Dorsey, regardless of where he goes. So if Geoff passes him up because of that reason only - then he judged wrong, the other team didn't, and I didn't, that's all.

I think that could be the reason why Geoff wouldn't take him and he would be available, but I don't think it'd be the reason no matter what. I also think if he took somebody else (in another big man) over Dorsey then he just likes that player some more than Dorsey (better offense).
