The suspense is killin me, tonight is going to be wild.

Looks like Ernie is sitting back and waiting to see who falls to us tonight. Arthur?, Speights?, who knows.

Chad Ford has Bayless falling to 12 in his latest mock. I'd just trade up for Bayless. He'd be our Barbosa. Heck, I'd trade AD+Songaila+18+OPec to Indy for Murphy and the 11 (Bayless).

Part of me agrees with Doc -- that Hibbert will be done by 17 now that Indy has a second pick. But I also think they like to play pretty up tempo there, and they might reach for an upsidey project like Jordan and hope for the best.

Yeah, I have no clue what Ernie's up to. And I love it.

I disagree. Bird has shown that he's willing to take young guys who need to develop (like taking Shawn Williams when others were still on the board). I think he's gonna swing for the fences at #11 with a big (probably DeAndre Jordan who's stock has mysteriously jumped up in the last 72+ hours, the same time frame that the JO/Ford trade was being discussed). That would mean he'd take anything but a center at #17.

At least that's what I hope.

I WOULD LOVE THAT!
It works for indy because they get a veteran point guard, instead of drafting a young one, so they have ford and daniels, also they get a pick and pop specialist in songaila and youngster in pesh. And still get a 1st. Maybe add our second too...

I would love if we were able to get Bayless but just because Indy is getting Ford does not mean they don't need a PG to groom. Ford is a veteran and has had tons of serious injury problems. If anything I think the acquisition of Ford might entice Bird to draft a young PG and bring them along slowly.

Bayless would be a perfect fit for us but I don't see him failing past the Kings.

Damn, I really know little about Speights or McGee. The Wizards "need" is certainly a bigum for a lot of reasons, but it'd be nice to draft a guy who you could say with almost certainty would come in right away and actually get minutes and contribute. I'm sort of surprised that Chris Douglas-Roberts is at #25 in both mocks. Dude seems to be a slightly shorter version of Tayshaun Prince. I'm no fan of guys with acronyms in their names, but we could do a lot of worse than adding a winner like CDR to the roster.

I don't know if its true or not. Luther Head can really stroke the 3. It's very intriguing. Is Hoopsworld reputable?

I can only hope this rumor's true.

I think Head's a little better than Roger Mason offensively because he's very quick. Roger's bigger and more physical (on fouls, particularly) defensively. Overall, decent replacement.

If true, the Wizards getting the 25 instead gives me some hope they've seen the light and will draft Hendrix.

A diverging thought: Daryl Morey of Houston is IMO the best in invaluating talent. Courtney Lee will turn out to be very good if he's their pick.

Isn't Head like 40 years old?

I'd totally be happy with Luther Head. Aside from the fact that he's a better player than Mason Jr, he has 1 year left on his deal, and is 2 years younger than Mason Jr. With 25 they could go with whoever they deem to be the BPA at that spot, although I would assume they would go big.

I like the trade, I'm guessing our depth chart would look like this:

PG: Arenas, Daniels
SG: Stevenson, Young, Head
SF: Butler, McGuire, Pecherov
PF: Jamison, Blatche
C: Haywood, Thomas

Looks like we are pretty set at the SG and SF position now so I hope we address PG or PF/C. Any chance Speights is still around at 25?

I'm not sure if Head would be enough to get me to give up the difference between the what we'd get 25 vs.18. Well, some head might be enough, but we'd have to be talking some mighty fine head.

As for stroking the 3, stat wise he doesn't match up to Mason, Young or even Stevenson. In Ernie I Trust but this Head ain't getting me to excited.

And how good is his lack of defense? He's gotta be able to fit in with the guys we have.

You can't just swap players for picks though. Who is the guy on the Wiz for whom their GM would give us Head?...

so to speak...

I'm looking up this Bill Ingram guy to see if he has any credibility. Seems to be a Rockets fan. And purported 'hoops analyst'. Head would be a decent replacement for Mason that's certain.

Off the top of my head (no pun intended) Head shot over 40% on threes prior to last season.

Here's a scouting report on Luther. (I love DX, btw. They even scout guys in the NBA!)

http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Luther-Head-320/

Interestingly, Head in their report is a decent PG defender.
