How high are the Nets on Devin Harris? (Trade)

Post#1 » by DowJones » Thu Jun 26, 2008 5:38 am

I was reading a thread over on the trade forum and Devin Harris' name was brought up. How high are the Nets on DH? I like him as a player and I love his contract, but what do NJ fans think of him? This was the proposed trade between the Blazers and the Nets.

Portland Trades
-13th pick
-Martel Webster
-Jarret Jack
-Channing Frye

New Jersey Trades
-Devin Harris
-Trenton Hassell

There are some very nice assets in that offer, but I honestly don't think Thorn/Kiki even consider it. When there were those rumors back in January/February of that 3-team trade that would have sent Harris to Portland, the main player heading back to NJ was Outlaw (along with I believe Frye, Jack and the 1st rounder). I think at a bare minimum Webster would need to be replaced with Outlaw to get the Nets' attention.

Honestly, I'd rather give them RJ than Harris for that package if I had to choose.

Harris is the franchise player for this team at this point.

hes the closest to untouchable.

There is no way I trade Harris for that package. They're saying now that it's marcus williams and the 10th pick for Jarret Jack and the 13th...and depending on who's left by the time we're about to pick I would really consider that deal and probably pull the trigger.

I'm sorry though. All the talks about this deal have us trading down to #13 and taking Robin Lopez. I have absolutely no clue why we'd do that. He's pretty much a slightly taller version of Boone. Why would we need to young guys that do the exact same thing? My only logic is that we have a package in consideration with another team (Stro/Boone/whatever or RJ/Boone/whatever) so we'd bring in Robin to fill that void. If that's not the case (which obviously won't happen on draft night most likely so we'll have to wait and see) then I'm gonna start drinking heavily.

If we don't land Gordon, Brooksy, Dano or Alexander I'm not gonna be happy.

The Nets & Net fans are extremely high on Harris. The only way he gets moved is in a package for a star player.

Which is really depressing, actually.
