Mavs may trade for top 10 pick

Post#1 » by dtownmavs41 » Thu Jun 26, 2008 1:23 am

What do you think of this trade. I would love if Beasley fell past the Heat and the mavs could trade Howard + Bass + Future First to the T Wolves for Jaric + McCants + #3 Pick
This gives the mavs a very young and good SG in McCants, a solid backup in Jaric, and a stud in Beasley. I don't think he will drop to 3 but there have been rumors about the Heat taking OJ Mayo with the second pick.

No. Neither team would do this deal.

Maybe not if Beasley falls but I think Minnesota is looking to move down or if they could get Howard they wouldn't mind moving out. This trade is still much more likely that us trading Bass + crap for VC + Diop

My trade worked because I incorporated a lot of people's ideas, not just my own. Yet, it's a moot point, we won't see VC here unless he's on the visiting squad.

Newbie, you're trying too hard. Roll with the punches and relax a little bit.
If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...

Wow this almost actually had me going for a second. I should know better.

Just because there were plenty of ideas doesn't mean the trade worked. Really all of the ideas are worthless on this board because we all know the starting line up for opening day will be Kidd/Terry/Howard/Dirk/Damp unless Dirk or Kidd gets hurt during international play. The bench will be Stackhouse/Wright/R Terry/Diop/Bass/McCloud/Frahm/JJB or Lue

But you can take a look at this...
http://www.dallasbasketball.com/fullColumn.php?id=491

The trade I made up was similar but not quite the same.
IF we trade it will be Bass+Stackhouse for a top pick and hopefully we can bring in Alexander. I really liked this guy during the big east tournament and ncaa tournament. He would give us the athleticism we are looking for and he is a guy that has a solid mid range jump shot. As a mavs hopeful I would pray that we could do a deal with whomever it takes to get alexander on our team.
This would be a good starting lineup

Kidd
Howard
Alexander
Dirk
Damp

Having Jet come off the bench as a scorer.

I would love to do this trade with the Knicks and take Jamal Crawford off their hands but I'm not sure how willing the knicks would be to do this. From recent articles I have heard the knicks wont have the cap space to offer Lebron a max deal so this would help create some more cap space so only time will tell if the knicks look to deal with the mavs.

This would be a nice trade for the Mavs but it is just as unrealistic as the VC and Diop for Bass and garbage idea.

The wolves are in complete rebuild mode so why would they want to trade a young player and basically Mayo for Howard and Bass.

Bass basically plays the same position as Jefferson and Howard plays the same as Brewer.

The only teams that would want Howard are teams that are only missing a piece or 2 to make a serious run next season. Howard makes no sense for the Wolves.

The Buck's pick at #8 is more realistic for a Howard deal but that is probably pushing it.

I don't see the Mavs' FO trading for a draft pick unless they decide to come to their senses and begin the rebuild process.

Ya I believe if Beasley falls out of the top two that the Timberwolves will select him. I don't know if that db.com article has any credible source but I think that could be a move that put this team back in the hunt in the western conference.

A story just broke that the Heat will select OJ Mayo second overall and will trade him. The trade partner is unknown at the time but this draft is getting more interesting by the hour.

Okay dtown, I apologize for calling you a newbie and you sold me.

Do us all one favor please, go to your first message and change the title to something that doesn't make us all freak out or spill our drinks on the computer

I like Bass+Stack for high pick. I like Alexander too. I also am enamored with other SG/SF types in the draft. I also know Brandon Rush is the only NBA ready swingman in the middle of the 1st round. He's someone we should target. Portland's #13 and Phoenix's #15 are possibilities to acquire...

Wouldn't it just be ironic if Howard went to Portland after admitting his pot use

You have great stuff dtown, just don't act like your selling newspapers with outlandish titles. Nearly everyone reads every topic.

Don't beleive anything DB.com says. They've been wrong so many times I can't count. Their about as knowledgable as we are on the draft and the Mavs.

I don't see us getting a top 10 pick. Those picks are HIGHLY COVETED by teams. They don't give them up for anything less than another first rounder in exchange as well as a solid starter. Its just not worth it. Not for an unknown quantity like Alexander. Now Beasley or Mayo...absolutely.

I still believe OJ Mayo is overrated. He was supposed to be the top player coming in and had a very mediocre season. He never played well in big games and shot a low percentage so what makes him someone teams should look at over Beasley? I know Alexander hasn't really shown much, but his combine numbers were very good. If you looked at them without seeing his name it would be shocking. His basketball IQ is very high too, and thats what we need.

I do think we can acquire two picks in the 20's which could net us a late lottery/mid first round pick like Brandon Rush...

If Jersey and Memphis switch lottery picks then this should be the deal with us...

Dallas gives
Howard + Bass + #51

for

Memphis gives
Miller + #10 + #20

Don't see any way Memphis trades completely out of the first.
