OT-For all you Gortat Fans...

Post#1 » by thefranchise2k5 » Thu Jun 26, 2008 5:31 pm

I saw him at the RDV for the second time today... this time of course where I see most of them... the hot tub. He was with his trainer talking in Serbian really loud and for a really long time... I have no idea what they were saying but man, Gortat has a mouth. I was in the cold plunge with another old naked man (which always happens) and decided if I should say something to him or not because I don't think he speaks much english. I go up to him and say, "Go Magic" and give him a thumbs up. He gave me this straight laced face and said "Alright." I don't know if he understood what I said, but I assumed he knew who the Magic are... It was probably the weirdest response I've ever gotten to anything I've ever said. But anyways the legacy of Gortat continues....

Man Gortat dominates everywhere, even in the hot tub. What a beast.

He'll probably speak better English than most lol. Though I imagine like most Europeans he's really down about his ability to talk it.

Then he probably didn't feel like talking to some random guy in the locker room and can pretend like he speaks no English to avoid conversation. Not a bad idea.

It was definitely Branko. I guess it's good that Gortat is working on his game by himself and his trainer this early in the summer. MIP NEXT YEAR! WATCH OUT LEAGUE!

Hey ... youve got to be careful when you speak to someone who doesnt speak our language. I looked it up and "Go Magic" sounds a lot like "Goo Magek" in Serbia that means "hop in hot stuff". I also believe that in certain areas of Serbia that is a binding proposal. You may actually be Mrs. Gortat right now for all we know.

CONGRATS on your nuptuals.

It's a brilliant ploy, works amazingly well - I learned how to say 'Sorry, I don't understand', and 'Sorry, I don't speak English' in Norwegian. That way, when I go on holiday, I can avoid street vendors and other such nuisances just by looking confused and saying 'Trist, jeg taler Engelsk ikke.' Worked brilliantly in Egypt and Italy.

He's from Poland, and Polish and Serbian (or "Yugoslavian") are nothing alike. On the other hand, Branko is a typical Serbian name... So I'm confused. But don't mind me, just thinking aloud...
