ESPN News was just talking about the trade, said its not 100% official yet. Seattle wants to see if Mayo is there at #4 and IF he is, they probably won't trade the pick...but if Mayo is picked at #3, LAC MIGHT trade for it to get Gordon.

Why would the Clippers trade 3 spots only to draft the guy they were projected to get at 7?

Heck no, I wouldn't have wanted to trade #7 and Brand for Beasley/Marion.

Interesting to see we're targeting Gordon. It was starting to look like he'd be grabbed up by Memphis or the Knicks at #5. That Mayo trade I posted was just something I want to happen, not based on anything at all. Sorry for the confusion.

Because Baylor/Dunleavy are still in charge.

Two big deals have just gone down in the past few minutes that could change the face of the draft.

The Clippers and Sonics have agreed to swap picks as long as the Wolves take O.J. Mayo at No. 3. If Mayo isn't drafted at 3, the deal is off according to two sources close to the information.

With the No. 4 pick, expect the Clippers to take Eric Gordon of Indiana. They've coveted him as the type of dominant scorer that they've been looking for.

The Sonics will take Brook Lopez or Jerryd Bayless at No. 7. However it seems like Lopez will be the guy.

So it looks official as long as Mayo isn't there. I think we're a great fit for Gordon. He and Brand in the P&R makes me happy. Bayless was starting to scare me. Last guy I remember whose stock fell this fast was Gerald Green, and we know what happened to him. I've seen Bayless almost falling out of the lottery in recent mocks.

I want to congratulate all teams involved for confusing me to no end. I can't quite grasp who has to be picked when for the respective deals to occur or who the real target is. Trading up to #4 to get Eric Gordon seems like blinking to me, but maybe I'm in the minority on that.

Clippers And Sonics Agree To Trade If Mayo Goes To 'Sota
Jun 26, 2008 4:26 PM EST
Provided the Wolves take O.J. Mayo at No. 3, the Sonics and Clippers will swap picks, and Los Angeles will also send a protected pick in 2009.

If Mayo isn't drafted at 3, the deal is off according to two sources close to the information.

The Clippers are expected to take Eric Gordon with the fourth pick.

The Sonics will take Brook Lopez or Jerryd Bayless at No. 7.

A Sonics team source steadfastly denied an ESPN report that has Seattle sending its fourth pick to the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for the No. 7 pick and a protected first-round pick in 2009.

ESPN writer Ric Bucher first broke the story earlier today and ESPN college basketball analyst Steve Lavin is also reporting the trade.

The team source, however, says the Sonics are not making a deal involving those picks. The source declined to verify or deny if Seattle is engaged in other trades, but repeatedly said: "What's being reported is not true. It's inaccurate."

A club source described a Sonics trade with the Clippers to swap draft picks as "very" premmature and there is no deal yet.

Stay tuned

Hopefully that is the case.

The clippers will have topped their past blunders if they actually pull off this trade just to draft Gordon. I wouldn't even grab Gordon with the 7th pick. Bayless is a much better fit for the Clips, and his stock has not fallen drastically. Bayless has always been project as a top 10 pick in the draft and that is were he is going to go.

The trade doesn't seem likely to happen anymore.
