Vince Carter Trades

Post#1 » by The Penguin » Thu Jun 26, 2008 10:23 pm

Piston fan, but the Cavs are pretty much my least favorite team. I would love to see Lebron go to NJ and given the RJ trade, it looks like NJ is headed in that direction. With that in mind, VC must go, so I thought of a couple of interesting hypotheticals. All the crappy guys expire before Lebron Summer:

NJ Trades: VC, Marcus Williams LAC: Cuttino Mobley, Tim Thomas, Al Thorton

NJ Trades: VC, Josh Boone CHI: Hughes, Noah

NJ Trades: VC ORL: Tony Battie, Brian Cook, J.J. Reddick, rights to Fran Vazquez

NJ Trades: VC, Marcus Williams, Boone WASH: E. Thomas, A. Daniels, Nick Young, Pecherov

NJ Trades: VC NO: Mike James, Rasual Butler, Julian Wright, Melvin Ely

Some very bad trades for NJ. But to do what's right for VC they should trade him ASAP.

The Clippers one is the only one that isn't dreadful for NJ.

Carter isn't going anywhere.

You can't have a team without any scorers at all - we really want Bobby Simmons as our #1 option?

Trading VC hinders the development of our young players.

He'll be here for a while.

The Nets won't trade Carter for something awful like that . They needed to trade one of RJ and VC for Capspace in a year they plan to use it . Now that this is done we're keeping Vince as long as a trade that we can't reject comes around .

We don't need capspace anymore or need to trade anybody.

Picks would probably need to be added as right now about the only guys who have the contracts to leave cap room are last years rookies. I think the Nets should be proactive in moving him Carter and do it quick. He is the final domino that needs to fall to clear the way for Lebron, but the rest of the league could see NJ putting together major young pieces and not take Carter....screwing up the necessary cap room.

Sorry, I didn't realize that there was enough room now as VC still makes a lot. If they do move Carter they would be able to tell Lebron that he could pick the guys that he wanted to come with him (which could include Wade, Bosh, etc...).

Technically yes, but we have draft picks coming in that will cost at around 10 million by then, not to mention you have to count additional minimum contracts added on up to the minimum number of players required by the league. Carter probably does need to be moved eventually but not his entire salary, meaning we don't need to get 15 million in expirings, just half of that while the rest coming back can be longer contracts.

I actually propose sending VC to Cleveland in exchange for Wally Szczerbiak, the 19th and a future 1st. Guarantees cap room to go after Lebron and another one of his classmates at the same time. When Lebron can opt out Sean Williams, Yi Jianlin, and the 3 rookies from this year will be on Rookie deals (as well as a very high pick in 2009). Devin Harris will be under contract. Only Marcus Williams and Josh Boone will present cap holds that year. My goal would be to renounce both and pitch Lebron and Chris Bosh on joining forces in Brooklyn.

Only one I'd ever consider from this list is the Clippers deal. I don't think the Clippers would do it though.

Unless he asks out, I can't see him traded. He ended the season great. VC is the face of the fanchise now. And he puts fans in the seats. The team will try its hardest to keep him on board for the move to Brooklyn.

Yeah other teams fans are gonna drive me nuts for the next 2 years. They rip Vince to death...but when they're like "oh man maybe Vince is available now" they all come out of the woodwork and offer deals for him and are like "man if we land vince...title city mother f***er"

Nets will never trade Vince unless there is a deal that they literally cannot pass up or he's in the last year of his contract or Vince is like "peace get me out of here."

I see VC getting traded in the near future. It might be a 2009 draft night trade like RJ.

VC will not be on this team when we go to brooklyn unless Thorn cant get anything for his sorry ass.

VC doesnt fit in the future plan people.

VC for expiring, young talent and/or draft picks.

Again, we will have zero people come to our games if we get rid of Vince. If we trade him, it won't JUST be for young talent. It'll be for someone we know can put a decent amount of people in seats. Only way we trade him for "potential" is if 1-2 guys on the roster now blossom the next season into fringe all-stars and we feel we can still put fans in the seats without having Vince.

Please excuse the idiots from the Toronto board, who either haven't been fans long enough to remember Vince not playing his hardest, and demanding to get out of Toronto, or have a bad case of amnesia.
