Rumor has it the Bobcats pick of Augustin was made for the Blazers and Portland will be picking for Charlotte, then adding some filler I would assume.

from that same source

When he posted that up originally, he made a typo and wrote Augustin instead of Bayless. Right now the deal looks like this...

Jack
McRoberts
Rush

for

Bayless
Diogu

ESPN and DraftExpress are both reporting it.

I don't know much about Bayless

But I really liked this trade for us. Jack i guess is a very good backup, Rush will be very good too since day one, and last year draft people said that Mcrobert have some talent.

And now we got Hibbert.

I really loved our draft!!!

Terrible move. Effin terrible. We get another top 5 caliber guy fall into our laps and we trade him? B/c we already had a guy there at the position? last time I checked we had a staple at the SG position too. With an uptempo system like O'Brien's, we can easily throw Bayless and Ford out there together. Let alone this is the best insurance policy possible considering Ford's suspect injury history. you really f*cked this one up bird imo.

Bayless is a perfect pick for the Pacers. He is self-confidence, quick, and explosive to be a combo guard. I don't know why Larry Bird would do this trade. If TJ Ford is injured, I don't think Jack could do better than Bayless and Diener to step up. He got turn over problems in Portland, and I cannot realize why we send a better guard to get him.

I think Larry Bird will be sorry for that if one day Bayless come to Conseco and outplay the Pacers!

not only was this a bad trade, drafting hibbert was a horrible mistake also, roy will not do **** in the nba...bird has been raving about arthur so why didnt he take him....so we could have had:

jerryd bayless
darrell arthur
ike diogu

instead of:

jarrett jack
brandon rush
josh mcroberts
roy hibbert

wow

Pacers aren't done.

I just got a funny feeling that the Pacers aren't done yet.

Hibbert to me could be on the move and the Spurs just picked George Hill and want to trade him to somebody.

While I regret not having Bayless, I think it's silly to put any value in Ike Diogu. He simply was never going to contribute anything here.

Count55 let me be brief in adding something that Bird said "polish over potential."

Brandon Rush is polish.

Jerryd Bayless is potential.

I think Bayless had shown as much polish as Rush, and a ton more potential.

The big difference is that Brandon Rush is a junior, and coming off a championship. Bayless is coming off an up and down year where Arizona was lucky to make the NCAA's. This is probably what Bird cares most about.

I want an inside source to tell me what the reaction was to this trade at the draft party. I was pretty disappointed myself. I like Jack, and I like Rush, but we need an alpha dog and Bayless has that attitude. We have a bunch of good role player types, but no one that wants to be the man.

Well I don't think the Pacers are done wheeling and dealing tonight. They have interviewed various picks throughout all the second round which makes me think they wouldn't have given up pick #41 unless they had something up their sleeve.

Lol Bird is an idiot!!!! Why would you trade a top 4 talent for a mid rounder.

I'm sick of fiving other teams to compete.

The Warriors got a squad to contend with Jackson and Harrington

The Raptors got a team that will wreck havoc with J.O. and Bosh

The Blazers may have the best starting 5 in the league now (Bayless, Roy, SF, Aldridge, Oden)

The Pacers...are looking at another lottery season. What's next Bird?

Jack will back up TJ, Rush can play SG. With Bayless we had an undersized SG with questionable defense...with Rush we have a great defensive SG who can shoot the 3 and we get rid of one of our many bigs for a backup PG who can play for sure...I'm not saying it's the greatest deal in the world but I don't think it's bad at all...

Well, I'm guessing the rationalization is that they didn't like Bayless (right, wrong, or indifferent) all that much more than Rush. They were able to get a good player in Rush (I do think he's going to be good, maybe better than Bayless, but he doesn't have that big star potential that Bayless might, so while Bird is getting some reasonable criticism, Brandon isn't to blame for this, and I hope we give the guy a chance), and pick up a bigger backup PG/SG in Jack.

I believe that Diogu was of absolutely no value to us...I think TPTB & JOB had written him off...and that McRoberts is just filler.

Therefore, it's Rush & Jack for Bayless. I'm not wild about it, but this is what we have.

I do think that by adding Ford, Rush, & Jack that we've significantly improved our perimeter defense. That's not to say that we now have a lockdown perimeter defense, but it has gotten a lot better.

I think these guys will work out well for us...the risk is not that they'll bust, rather that Bayless will blow up for Portland.

Don't get me wrong. I might be one of the most angry fans here, but it has nothing to do with Rush personally. I, personally, hope that the deal doesn't actually get done and is just Portland blowing smoke out there, but, no matter what, I hope Brandon Rush turns out to be the long-term SG option for us we hope he can be. I like Rush as a prospect, but I was just sold on Bayless being something pretty special.

Here's a LINK to the indy cornrows blog from the fieldhouse. People were pretty excited about Bayless. The trade had a mixed reaction. I'm with Scoot. I kind of hope it isn't true.
