This was the worst draft I have ever sat through.

Post#1 » by Calinks » Fri Jun 27, 2008 3:45 am

I'm ecstatic that we got Mayo, very happy about that but everything else was a disaster. We have a sore need for inside help and size and we pass on multiple players that could have given us that. We didn't move up but we didn't need to. We were put into PRIME position to take a chance of two big guys and we flushed it down the toilet.

Will we ever see that European player? I doubt it. Seattle and Portland hustled their butts off. Portland drafted so many decent looking players it seems they can put TWO teams together who can take us down. Barring some late news or a trade revelation I have to give this draft a D. Just horrible, I'm so disjointed in everything we did after the first 20 minutes.

Seattle got Westbrook, which was a bad pick..I laughed when they took him over the likes of Bayless and DJ for a PG.

We have Mayo, they don't.

We were just in a golden position. We were right there. and we screwed it up. How do you do that? These picks were in prime position and we pretty much threw them away.

Can you name any 2nd round centers who are rotation players in this league?

There is a reason DeAndre slipped. HE CANT PLAY BASKETBALL.

He isn't going to be a starting center in this league, book it.

Can you name any undersized, unathletic, no-defense, euro Centers who never come to the NBA who are rotation players in the league?

I would much rather take a chance on Jordan turning into a stud, than the off chance that Pekovic actually comes over and the off chance that he ever becomes anything more than an average backup.

Who cares if they likely can't play. Why not take a chance on them and see what they got. We could have put two 7-footers next to Al to see how they fit and we blew it. Now we got two second rounders for next year and a player who will probably never come over here. I'd rather take a chance on something then just throw away opportunities like that. Can't believe that.

I'm not saying it was a good pick. I'm not saying it was good to pass on DAJ. But it's not worth getting this POed about.

Exactly! Picking Jordan (or Hardin) was probably the biggest no brainer in the entire draft (other than SA picking anyone other than George Hill) and yet the FO still managed to screw it up somehow.

No, it's okay.
Seeing McHale take McCants while there was Granger on board sucked bigtime though.
And trading Roy for Foye, while there was Gay waitng, wasn't all that endearing.
And there is always that Ebi pick and leaving Howard to Dallas.
Also watching some NBA Drafts in wich the Wolves hadn't ANY 1st round picks AT ALL, was pretty bad.

Loved the Mayo pick and from what you hear the foreign big will be a good player, but we'll probably have to wait. With our roster that's alright, but I agree that the 2nd pick in the 2nd should've been someone to help our C position or another player who could conceivably contribute and not lesser future picks and $1million or less.

What also bothers me is two teams we're competing against (Portland and Seattle) are active throughout the draft to try to stockpile talent and improve. It just seems like we make a first round pick and then go to sleep.

I feel like crying.

So much for a group decision.

I hope Hoiberg quits. Go somewhere else.

I want to go somewhere else.
