Jerryd Bayless at #11-- is it possible?

Post#1 » by Indydave » Thu Jun 26, 2008 7:30 pm

Man, what a difference a day makes-- I just saw the updated DraftExpress mock draft, and they now believe that at pick #11 Jerryd Bayless will fall to us, and they are pretty solid that at #17 the pick is gonna be Kosta Koufos! I don't know if Koufos is what I had in mind for a traded pick, but then again that's why I'm here behind a computer and not running the team

Thoughts?

Actually, it is...

The Clippers have supposedly made a deal with the Sonics to move up to the fourth pick.

ESPN’s Ric Bucher reported that the Sonics gave the Clippers the #4 pick for the the #7 pick and a 2009 protected pick. Which guard are the Paper Clips jumping up to grab?

Chad Ford says:

The Clippers and Sonics have agreed to swap picks as long as the Wolves take O.J. Mayo at No. 3. If Mayo isn't drafted at 3, the deal is off according to two sources close to the information.

With the No. 4 pick, expect the Clippers to take Eric Gordon of Indiana. They've coveted him as the type of dominant scorer that they've been looking for.

The Sonics will take Brook Lopez or Jerryd Bayless at No. 7. However it seems like Lopez will be the guy.

If this deal goes through, and the Sonics take Brook Lopez at 7, then there's a very good chance Bayless falls to us.

Absolutely no way. I will believe it when I see it. At about 7 or 8 Jerryd Bayless will be the best player on the board and teams will not be able to pass him up. I would like to think there is a chance, but the realist in me says no way.

I think the Knicks could decide. I could see them going Bayless or Gallinari. If they go Gallinari, I could see Bayless falling.

Now that Milwaukee has acquired Richard Jefferson from the Nets, I don't think that they are going to take a small forward like Alexander.

I predict that if the Knicks pass on Bayless at #6, then the Bucks will take him at #8.

I'm actually starting to wonder if Westbrook might not fall to us after all. Here's a possible scenario: Rose, Beasley, and Mayo go 1, 2, 3. The Clippers take Gordon at #4 as rumored. Love goes #5, to whoever trades with Memphis for that pick. The Knicks take Gallinari. The Sonics take Brook Lopez at #7 as rumored. The Bucks take Bayless. The Bobcats take Augustin because Larry Brown just loves him. The Nets, sans Jefferson, decide they'd rather have Alexander at #10 than Westbrook.

:dontknow:

Also, why is all the teams in our division getting better?

If the Bucks acquired Richard Jefferson by trading Yi, then I guess they want to compete now, no? I guess that means no Redd trade? If that's the case, they go with a PF. Although, Villanueva can start and be productive. Problem is, Alexander is more of a 3 than 4, and the other Top 10 worthy PF, Anthony Randolph is a couple of years away. They probably hope Kevin Love falls. Don't really have a clear idea of what they'll do.

I think that Bayless will drop no further then the Sonics at #7.

With all the swaps that have been made in the last hour or so...I think that it decreases the chance that a player like Brook, Bayless or Gordon falls to the 11th spot...but it increases the chance that a player like Joe Alexander or Gallinari falls to the 11th spot.

There maybe some teams that are interested in either of them....which was unlikely since most thought that the Bucks would pick Joe Alexander ( or more specifically a SF ) at the 8th spot. This means that we maybe put in a position where we can trade down from the 11th spot and still get a later round pick ( maybe with Portland at 13 ) with some additional assets while still getting the Guard/Big Man that we want.

Well, I imagine NJ will take one of Alexander or Gallinari now that they have a hole there.

I think at least one team above us will pick someone that is expected to go lower, leaving an extra player available as well. As to who this is, I have no idea.

Ford still has Bayless going at #12. If Bayless is available at 11 and we pass him up I will go nuts.

Ok, laugh all you want, Bayless will prove how dumb teams were for passing him up. The Bobcats picking DJ Augustin ahead of Bayless is laughable. I am stunned how this happened, and we find a way to screw it up, unreal.
