I am so glad that the Mavs front office wow'ed all the Mavs fans with this guy. I have no clue if he'll be worth anything but geez no moves so far tonight. Very disappointing .... :-?

Awesome maybe he do a duet with Stack ! It's never good when they are showing more video of a guy singing than his college highlights !

i heard 3 seconds and was out on his singing, lets hope he can build on his SEC POTY and become a good shooter and defensive player since they said he has great length

I think we got a hell of a pick at 51. He's a 6' 6" SG that was one of the elite 3pt. shooters in the NCAA. They are comparing him to Michael Redd with better defense.

I think I'd much rather have another serious 3pt threat coming off the bench instead of having JJ Barea, Juwan Howard, Malik Allen or even Eddie Jones. This dude could be a serious sleeper if he can at least be sparkplug of offense off the bench.

^Dude, he's not going to be a "sparkplug" off the bench. He will be lucky to make the roster and even then, he will be in the D-League most of the year. Waste of a night. Has any team changed so drastically in the past few years. Once we were involved in every rumor and were active, now we sit on our asses. Ugh, frustrating...

I didn't mean next year. I know it will be a few years before he would contribute. Watch his highlights. I think he could be a big surprise in a few years.

I know you are frustrated Pointguard01 but don't hate on this kid just yet. Redd was drafted at 43 and he's turned into a very solid player. They actually have a very similar shot. At least he has a 3pt threat to build around. Let's see what he's got.

I think he is a good value pick at 51 but I am very disappointed in the mavs. There were plenty of opportunities for us to atleast be optimistic about for next season but instead we sit on our ass all night and will be looking at no changes next season. All we can hope for is that there is a trade when free agency starts or maybe Artest will look to come here if he opts out, I highly doubt it though.

I'm rooting for the Blazers next year, that's how you build a team.

Im just upset that we didnt even grab a late first rounder... The front office needs to get their heads out of their asses. The past 4 months have been very questionable on their part.

As a Big SEC fan, the kid and play some basketball. Will he ever be a star...no, but then again, I might be inclined to put him in over Eddie Jones right now...which doesn't say much. He could develp into a solid role player, but may not amount to anything. I thought we needed someone with a great outside shot, and Foster will struggle with the NBA three point line. His bread and butter is the mid-range game( which to me seems to be a strength of our team...bass, dirk, howard), but we have alot of that already.

As I am sure most will say, I too and disappointed we did nothing to get picks in the first or second round. Many teams got picks for cash, even value ones in the second round( see Boston and Walker). I hate to say this, but I forsee this offseason alot like this draft. Lots of smoke from the FO about moves and changes, but nothing will happen.

Interesting enough the assistant coach who worked with Redd during his rookie season and who has been credited with helping develop Redd was Terry Stotts. Will history repeat in Dallas?

Reading through some draft reports the only thing he has in common with Redd is his shooting technique. But he got introduced as the best shooter of this draft class, so even if he doesnt develope into a starting material kind of player (noone really expects a Redd in him), shooters like Korver, Kapono do have a spot in this league and can become very handy at time.

If he shows signs of being a great, not just good, shooter he will have a future in this league as he doesnt bring anything else to the table. If he makes it i'm content with this pick.

But i'm still pissed they didnt even get the 32th pick or close to that, there was at least one player that could have made the team now...

yeah the sad thing is definitely the FO. no action whatsoever. just disappointing. i just hope they get active and make some trades, but my hopes get slimmer and slimmer.

I dont know this foster guy. if he really is that good at the 3point line, well than he is welcome. one need carlisle stressed out was 3 point shooting. lets see what the kid can do in the summer

I don't think anyone is questioning the value of the pick, or even expecting much out of Foster. I know he will still be an above average three point shooter, and someone who will play maybe 7 minutes a game later in the season( if he makes the team), but everyone is just upset that the mavs stood pat while almost every other team made some sort of deal today. The mavs explanation for why they didn't get a pick was that it was too expensive. Come on now, mark cuban has plenty of money and there were a few players at the end of the first round and early second that could come in and contribute immediately.

This will be another disappointing season and the rebuilding talks will come on much stronger than they did after this past season.

I think thats exactly it.
shan foster is ok, I mean, it's the 51st pick. if he produces I'll take it gladly, if he doesnt, well he is just the 51st pick.
the sad thing is that almost every team has done something, traded a guy or two, bought a pick. the mavs stood pat and it hurts. hopefully offseason wont be the same

I'm probably alone here, but I think it was pretty smart for the Mavs to be virtually inactive last night.

Buying a late round pick would have been okay but wouldn't have made much difference for our very small window of opportunity. It makes no sense to trade for a pick either because we will need the few trading resources that we have to procure veterans that can actually produce over the next few years.

I agree that it was a boring night, but the Mavs need immediate help. This was smart on the Mavs FO part if they are not planning to rebuild. However, they are stupid for not rebuilding.
