crawford is good, overachiever..yes but who hates on overachievers it just shows that they love the game and work with what they have. he really hustles and takes a beating, gets to the ft alot. so we got a decent pick at 58 imo.... jamont gordon didnt even get picked by any of the other teams FA here he comes.

If some of these young bucks get off the Play Station3 and watch some ball they would know who the hell he is.LakerFanSince84 wrote:IF you don't closely follow College B-Ball, then you won't know him. I love my laker fans, but sometimes we are very naive....it's the 58th pick, not a lottery pick. Kentucky plays enough on CBS and ESPN for people to have heard of him.
Any way he's a nice shooter has a pretty good b-ball IQ, has NBA three point range. Also has a 2 guard type frame at 6'5" 207 lbs. He will push Coby Karl in camp to see who makes the team. Will also be insurance just in case the Lakers lose Sasha, that's the only reason I see them making this pick.
It also shows that the front office is not sleep at the switch, Mitch starting to develop a 6th sense.
Best case scenario the team is able to keep Sasha, worst case is he leaves but you have somebody that can step in. Camp will prove what Joe can bring to the team.

maybe that was one of the reasons they decided to get rid of Love. They knew that their Gay-Love just wouldn't work out
Gay Mayo has an interesting ring to it.

After how we just got our as$$es waxed by Boston, Karl couldn't help us next year....we need defense. I'd rather go with a hard-nosed player from a defensive oriented Kentucky team, then some softy from Boise State
What are you talking about? Any knowledgeable Laker fan knows that he hustles. The guy works hard on the court. Seeing this I can already say that he's already better than joey crawford the rookie ever will be and I wouldn't hesitate to give Coby luke's spot on the roster. "hard-nose player" what? He wont even see the court.

Drafting Crawford could mean the Lakers are preparing for life without Sasha should he get that a nice offer somewhere else. I am positive somebody will pay for his services. Never thought I would prefer to have Sasha to stay because I know Crawford will not give the shooting that Sasha brings.

I don't think this pick means anything in relation to the free agency. If any it just shows that none of the teams were really interested in what we offered for a better pick and GMs talk all the time, not just to deal but to know each others' point of view on their players while gauging the market. I don't think he'd make the team unless we make a multi-player deal and most of our additons if any will come through free agency.

Re: 2008 NBA Draft discussion
Sorry Rox but I gotta disagree with you on Karl man, I'd much rather have a dude from the streets of Detroit then Idaho any day. Sorry man but you must have not been paying attention when Phil said the team must find "tougher" players. Karl in NO way can help us next season, didn't you see what was needed from watching the Finals ?Rox_Nix_Nox wrote:LakerFanSince84 wrote:Rox_Nix_Nox wrote:koby carl should be on the team next year.

He's actually a better shooter then Sasha and has a better driving game then him also. He got to the line a lot at Kentucky, something the Machine has forgot to down load in his files.Minhee wrote:Drafting Crawford could mean the Lakers are preparing for life without Sasha should he get that a nice offer somewhere else. Crawford won't be able to duplicate Sasha's elite 3-point shooting, but dude was on fire at the end of Kentucky's season. Still, he and the Wildcats were pretty inconsistent last year, so it'll be hard to project if he'll be reliable enough for Phil to use him at all. Phil doesn't like to play rookies, especially when his team needs veteran experience. I'd be surprised if he gets out of the d-league, to be honest. He's going to have to play some pretty specular bball.
If Vujacic leaves, Phil can just as easily give backup SG minutes to Fish or Farmar.

yes more tough players I'm down with getting artest
but
whats joey ever proven though? This dude was talking like joey crawford is an answer to something. I don't expect him to play, you know how phil is. Actually I hope he doesn't even make the team, we don't need more inexperienced youth anyway. He's from the streets of detroit so? Most NBA players grow up poor. It's not like Coby had it easy battling cancer. twice.
and all I know is Coby Karl in the triangle >>>> joey crawford/walton

funny guy.....hustle does not equate to defense. Karl hasn't proved anything, he's a jobber! Karl has no experience, wait i'm sorry...he has like 5 games of D-League experience....lol. I never knew playing in the D-League makes u experienced.
Until u directly talk to MOST NBA players, which happen to be African American, and they tell you they grew up poor, than your statement will have some validity. But since you obviously didn't...it's very lame, and insensitive of you to make such an ignorant statement. Every underclassman that comes out early to the draft is not struggling financially; maybe they're just following a childhood dream of just playing in the NBA.
At any rate, I'll take Crawford over Karl anyday of the week

Coby is more experienced in the NBA and not the d-league than joey crawford. Bottom line. Doesn't matter how meaningless the difference is I'm comparing the two.

Your searching too hard for something that isn't there. And yes most happen to be african american. Sorry to me people are people. Caucasian Asian Chinese Hispanic whatever. people. I don't know why you bring that up when everyone is aware of it.
And about being Insensitive? Your the one calling Coby Karl a "jobber"
whatever that means

Not worth seeing the Lakers in Summer League this year, unless Bynum is there.

Do yourselves a favor Laker fans and do a search on youtube for Joe Crawford. Dude is tough, he can shoot from distance, he can score, he goes to the bucket, and gets to the FT line. Sounds good to me. I think Coby just lost his job. Solid pick Mitchie!

don't know if this has been posted yet, but it from Chad Ford round 2 analysis
sounds like he's a good player, but i don't think we should place to high expectations on him
Crawford is a bit of a tweener as a combo guard. He played well in Orlando but I doubt he sticks in the league.

I wouldn't want to be in the team that got schooled at the Gay/Mayo clinic in Memphis, although the Lakers got schooled by the gay clinic in LA last time.Kno wrote:Laker1 wrote:Kno wrote:So I guess the brief Gay Love stint Memphis had going on is over?

Re: 2008 NBA Draft discussion - #58: Joe Crawford
I don't care at all what town the two players are from. I was from a po dung white bread town and moved to south central.... I know from experience tough is a character thing and not a town thing. Karl fought for his life, was the son of furious george playing basketball. I'm sure he is plenty tough and his limited minutes last year showed he has surprisingly good D. I have no idea who will come out as #1 bench watcher, but I wouldn't count out Karl.
