Goran Dragic

Post#1 » by stood-amire » Fri Jun 27, 2008 8:01 am

I was wondering what you guys think of him? We got him from Spurs today, do you like him, do you think he can contribute in anyway? I am from Slovenia, Ljubljana thats exactly where Goran played this season and we all loved him here, he is hard working and very nice guy with good defense but poor shot and he is very good at driving to the basket. I went to a lot of games that he played in and he never dissapointed me, he was one of the best if not the best players here so I am a little bit sad to see him go but it's all easier now that he plays for my favourite NBA team!

Hope he gets some playing time and we don't send him to D league, he is gona give us everything he has got if we just give him a chance.

Peace!

Dragic is not coming over this year.
He is gonna play one more year at TAU, or so he says.
And also i think his shot mechanics are awful and his 3pt% in the Euroleague was very bad, however his 3pt% in the adriatic league(also a very strong league) was 47% which gives me hope for his 3pt shot.

He is a lockdown defender even by NBA standards very fast even by NBA standards has great handles and an excellent first step.
I think he would actually do better on an NBA team then in the Euroleague, especially on a fast pace team like the Suns because he really likes to push the ball and run.

He looks like a Manu type defender/ball handler but in Udrih's body...so definite potential.

Would love him to come over this year

Hey guys!
just wanted to drop by to tell you im so pyched we got dragic!
he's a faster than udrih, and certanly more capable of carrying a team on his back . Hes a good defender by any standards and could very well be second best poing guard in this draft (COULD!).

he played exceptionaly well for slovenian national team, and carried them most of the time, which is admirable qualitiy for such a young player.

i really hope Nash's magic will rub of him, couse if it does, then we're set for a decade at the point guard position.

a better video showcasing dragic, mostly with national team

Broken nose over in Europe I think?

Watch the video, he looks really sharp and has some decent athleticism - threw down a couple of dunks with ease...

Think I got him a nickname already...

"The Dragician"

^I know man, thought the same thing!

Smooth, repeatable stroke and he barely missed...I know it was a practice with no D against him, but so many other prospects you can SEE the flaws in their strokes and why they're missing, he looked really sharp...

His shot was so so this season but certeanly much better than in privious year when he just couldn't make a jumpshot. He has great work ethic so he will work on his shot and I belive that he will be a reliable shooter from outside, not great but decent. I realy belive he can come in when Nash retires and Nash could teach him a lot. We should be happy that we got him and if he comes here this year which i doubt, I hope Porter gives him an opprotunity.

And by the way he already has a nickname, it's GOGI from his name Goran :D Just wanted to mention it.

He looks decent to me. I did see some flaws, or at times, he was not as consistent in his shooting mechanics. Besides that, it is pretty good. I hope they can bring him in now tho.

There are still problems regarding his contract and now Tau Ceramica, the club he signed with couple years ago, lost on the court, so they have to make another offer for him if they want him there or something like that. He said he wants to stay a year or so in Europe to develop, but if you guys have high expectations of him, he could develop well under Nash, too. However, Suns would have to pay approx. 1 million € for him and from what I've read, your owner doesn't really like to spend. :D

I just watched the Youtube video and the Suns.com video I must say I was impressed. He has a pretty good handling and looks like he's an amazing penetrator. He's 22, played in the Euroleague so he definetely has experience and he is probably ready to contribute right away. Can't judge his shot by the video altough it doesn't look too bad...and as Rondo showed us this year you don't need to be Steve Nash shooting the ball to be a succesful PG.

Also he sounds like a good kid: humble, ready to improve and work hard...I liked what I saw and heard from him. If he could come this year he could really be an improvement over Barbosa as our PG backup. I think Barbosa could also benefit from not having to play the PG position and just concentrate on being a SG.

He said he wants to stay a year in Europe? Mm...I hope not...I don't know, looks like we really wanted him (we were the only team to see him in a workout, we traded with CASH [!!!] to grab him...) maybe we can convince him to come this year and pay the buy-out...

By the way...why Chad Ford hasn't get the memo? In his draft analysis and team-by-team grades he still has Dragic as a Spurs...

Anyway looks like he thinks he is a good player...

Really happy we got him even if it did cost us 2 2nd rounders and some cash. Now do you all think Sarver is cheap. He actually bought a draft pick!

Well...for once he spends money and suddenly we forgot the thousands of picks he sold?

looks decent, hopefully Nash can teach him some things, as far as his shooting stroke goes... who really cares as long as he makes it. I mean, Marion didn't exactly have the prettiest shot either...

if this kid can play pg on offense and can play defense against shooting guards, then i might think twice in trading barbosa. barbs is the opposite one, plays sg on offense but cant defend shooting guards in the nba.
