Can the Rookies Beat the Soph0mores This Year?

Post#1 » by Storm Surge » Thu Jun 26, 2008 9:54 pm

If Greg Oden is considered a rookie. They could have this lineup.

Rose
Mayo
Gallinari
Beasley
Oden

Bayless, Love, Alexander, Westbrook and others off the bench.

Compared that to the sophomores

Conley
Stuckey
Durant
Thornton
Horford

Only really good guys off the bench would be Scola, maybe Landry, Marc Gasol, hehe.

Thing with the rooks is they have guys like Oden, Love, Mayo and Bayless who are so competetive to win that game or any other, i'll take the 1st year guys.

I think so.

The rookies are much more talented than the Sophomores. And Oden's like a rookie 1.5 He's seen the in's and out's of the NBA already.

But who knows what will happen.

A. Oden is not a rookie. There isn't a medical redshirt in the NBA.
B. No. The idea is laughable.

It's been stated numerous times that he is eligible for ROY next year. They just said it on ESPN.

C. Even if Oden is eligible as a rookie, the idea is laughable.

I love how you say that so matter of factly even though you are completely wrong. Did you look anything up before you came up with your answer, or did you have some prior experience to help you form that statement. I'm guessing no, I'm guessing you just went with your gut and passed off something that you thought was true as a fact.

i'm pretty sure nick collison played in the rookie challenge as a sophomore in what should've been his third year, as he missed his 'real' rookie season with injury.

Yea, but the game doesn't.
like someone mentioned earlier, I see more competitive players who might care being rookies.

also i think the 2002 team wasnt that bad either

ROOKIE TEAM ROSTER
Rookies Team Pos. Ht. Wt. School/Country
Carmelo Anthony Denver F 6-8 230 Syracuse

LeBron James Cleveland F 6-8 258 St. Vincent-St. Mary HS
Chris Kaman L.A. Clippers C 7-0 268 Central Michigan
Dwyane Wade Miami G 6-4 212 Marquette

SOPHOMORE TEAM ROSTER
Sophomores Team Pos. Ht. Wt. School/Country
Carlos Boozer Cleveland F 6-8 258 Duke
Mike Dunleavy Golden State F 6-8 230 Duke
Manu Ginobili San Antonio F 6-6 210 Argentina
Marko Jaric L.A. Clippers G 6-7 217 Serbia-Montenegro

Tayshaun Prince Detroit F 6-9 215 Kentucky
Amare Stoudemire Phoenix F 6-10 245 Cypress Creek HS
Yao Ming Houston C 7-5 296 China

ETA: Amare was a beast. 17-23 for 36 points and 11 boards.
Whereas this years soph doesnt really have that huge big man. I dont see Horford snapping in a pickup style all star game. (although I would take him on the bucks anyday)
