Smills his value isn't going to go up anymore. He's reaching the age that we need to look to move him before his value starts getting lower. We aren't good enough to compete for a championship and he we should get the best value we can out of him. look for a Sign and Trade and get ourselves a relativley young PG.
Players to target
Felton
Hinrich
Marcus Williams
these guys could really help us.
We could probably get felton using brad Miller.

That's the thing though. After this summer, if he doesn't opt out of course, there is no more time. At least before we knew that he might not opt out so that gave us some time to explore. After this summer the time to explore is over. Waiting for the deadline is even riskier because even more possibilities, well the few that are still out there at this point anyway, will be exhausted. There looks to be more teams heading the other way than trying to compete. The only way we trade Artest is if we send him to a team needing that immediate burst. The longer we wait the more teams that we could possibly send him to, that have what we'd like in return, will have already unloaded it for 2nd best.

First of all, can we buy Kenny Thomas ass out and send him packing.
Artest & Miller have to be moved. Some of you have to take a look at this team and say to yourself what does Artest do for it? Petrie said himself that he didn't want to make a move because teams wanted the young talent.

If he doesn't make any waves might as well keep him. If they can save a few bucks then sure. And I am sure they wanted the young talent, Artest can't even be traded right now. That and the teams most likely we were looking to trade with are in need of young talent.

Even if he decides to opt out, the Kings can S & T him which he would want if he wanted more money.

Gotta figure out this Artest situation, then look at the PG situation, then get ready for Summer League. hopefully Sheldan Williams comes in in-shape this year. Right now things aren't looking to bright for next year, i expect to see a lot of young guys next year

That sounds pretty bright to me.

Artest simply has to go. It's clear the way this young nucleus should play, and Artest doesn't fit for a minute.
But of course Salmons does.

If anything Salmons is a veteran stable piece, he's the same age as Ron, just not in the league as long... he's not a part of the longer-term future.
I just think eventually soon, one of Ron/Salmons are going to have to go, to allow a more balanced and set PT situation.

The Rockest doesnt have the assets outside of Yao/McGrady to gain Artest. The only realistic way to get Artest is to get a 3rd team into the deal. Other than that, any deals regarding Artest to Rockets is an automatic no.

Re: Now what Happens?
I think it was absolutely pathetic that we couldn't trade to get Chalmers. There's NO way that we couldn't have beat Miami's offer of 2nd round picks. Why not trade one of our 2nds + future 2nd for him? I would have been ALOT more confident with Chalmers on our team if aren't able to resign Beno.

Re: Now what Happens?
Chalmers is a career backup and at best a stop-gap option. That's not worth trading two 2nd rounders for--especially if Geoff thinks Singletary could be as good.

I am glad to hear that Petrie wasn't willing to give up any of the younger players. Especially happy we didn't trade Garcia.
I don't know--I would have been more than willing to give up Cisco if it meant we got Bayless and Portland didn't. But I don't think it came down to that, because Indy has a glut at the wings, and not so much at PG (with Tinsley likely gone and Diener a question mark).
As for Felton, I don't know. Drafting DJ says something about what they think of him IMO, and they still need a lot up help up front. I could see Brad maybe being a principle piece in a deal like that.
Mitch, I think the deal to be made was with New Jersey. They could've moved down and still got their man (Lopez). You mention Cisco, we could've offered Cisco who I think they would've gladly taken since they went after Douglas-Roberts, swapped picks and as an extra bonus maybe even netted Marcus Williams.

I'll definitely take Chalmers over Singletary and Douby right now. I don't dislike both the latter, just like Chalmers notably more, and know he's going to be a good complementary guard in this league.
He's like, just the kind of guard Miami needed, definite Pat Riley type of player... he'll start for them soon (obviously because of the situation Miami has).

Good point, I also would've taken Jamont Gordon over Singletary. Hopefully, Gordon can get an invite to summer league and trainging camp.

Singletary's more of a PG than Gordon. I like him a lot just like I like Chalmers. He's a good distributor, a good defender, and he's a clutch shooter and a good ballhandler. He's a good offensive player. Who knows, if he develops maybe he can be a Nick Van Exel type of player.

What makes you think Indiana wouldn't have taken Lopez? With the JO trade, they have a pretty glaring need at center now, and while it's no guarantee, I think there's a good chance they would've taken Lopez and gone in another direction at 17.

I guess that was possible but why wouldn't they had went on and taken Rush themselves? Since there were plenty of bigs still available and they had the 17th in their pocket.
