Re: Draft Talk 2008
If Gordon turns out to be like Dwade with a better J, we are playoff bound. But if he turns out to be like Ben Gordon, we'll be in the lottery again next year. I'm not a big fan of Gordon, but as long as he plays hard, plays tough D, and plays smart...I can grow to like him. I do expect him to play on next year's rookie/soph game against Big Al. Can't say so much for DeAndre though.

Re: Draft Talk 2008
I guess what I know about these guys isn't enough for me to see what a coup the Clippers pulled off.
Last night, I was just scratching my head, if not rolling my eyes, seeing who else was available at the times.
But if you guys think there's a lot of promise for the team in these picks, I'll keep an open mind until we see how it all pans out. Certainly my gut reaction hasn't been infallible before.

A player compared to Ben Gordon is the exact opposite of what we need on this team.
Still can't believe we did not take Bayless, and one of CDR/Bill Walker.

Eric Gordon is not Ben Giordon. Ben Gordon doesn't have anywhere near the same level of explosiveness going to the rim.

That does not mean they cannot be comparable. Their shot selection is sometimes questionable. Eric's defense may be a little better, but not by much.
Oh, and Eric's ball handling flat out sucks.

You can compare somebody to anybody. It doesn't mean they are the same player and it doesn't mean they are better or worse than said player once in the NBA. People were comparing Ike Diogu to Elton Brand when he first entered the league. He has since been on 3 different teams in 3 years.

I'm comparing EG's college game to BG's pro game, as they are similar in my opinion.
EG is one of those players whose game will not change much from his transition from the college ranks to the pros.

Only thing similar about BG and EG are their last names.

Re: Draft Talk 2008
I am happy that the rumors generated by Draft Express turned out to be false and the Clippers didn't get into a bidding war involving future picks and/or players for OJ Mayo and Marko Jaric. It looks like Memphis will again be the one of the worst teams in the league unless they can unload one of their PGs for a big man.
Milicic and a bunch of rookies aren't going to cut it at C and PF, they should have just kept Kevin Love, Mike Miller and Brian Cardinal without making a trade. Minnesota won't be much better, but at least they added Miller and Love/Jefferson should be a pretty good combination for them. With Foye/McCants/Miller they should be decent in the backcourt and I don't see them missing Mayo that much.

Re: Draft Talk 2008
I think both teams invovled in that trade will remain in the bottom 5 of the league next year. Like jgustav said, Memphis has virtually no frontcourt. Minnesota got the better of the deal, but unless they get something significant for MIller, they will still be bad. Love and Jefferson aren't going to stop anybody, while McCants and Brewer are looking like busts thus far. It's still gonna be awhile 'til we see that Wolves pick.

We're not gonna get the Wolves pick untill the lottery protection is taken off by 2012 I think.

Re: Draft Talk 2008
We signed Gordon today, seems like we're getting our priorities striaght with our players. Now we just really gotta get EB to re-sign with us.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!
