Otis blows it again

Post#1 » by flyingvee » Fri Jun 27, 2008 9:32 pm

A lot of you guys are high on this Lee guy, but he's nothing more than an Evans type clone and not the guy that takes you to the next level. The big question is how can you have a young Kosta Koufos on the board and pass on him. This kid will not be the next Darko, but more so more an Okur, or Seiklay, or Brad Daugherty type big man. Just think of what he and Howard could do. Since we didnt pick up anyone to help, why not this young kid? So costly, this kid will become a good big man.

Who the hell is John Koufos? You must mean Kosta Koufos. You really should know the name of the person you're pumping. And I'm sorry, a young big man who's going to get offered a large contract in Europe. You really think he's going to take #22 type money? And even if he is, is it worth the risk to have another Fran situation?

And we addressed a need. And comparing Courtney Lee to Maurice Evans just shows how little you know of him.

Only thing Otis blew was not managing to get another pick.

The pick itself from both the media and fans view is a good and solid pick.

Nice try at the same old line but if you know the guys over at the Orlando Magic official board they aren't haters and they are saying much the same thing

Is our record going to be 35-47 or whatever you said before last season?

well now that we have drafted Lee and not Kosta or Jordan we're probably going to fall to 30-52, the exact inverse of our previous record...wake me when it's over...

I'm no Otis lover...but The General was a solid pick for me. His faux-pas was not getting a second pick to nab Darrell Arthur...IMO

Can't really slate Otis for this draft...

So we really going with the General for the nickname then?

I would laugh if he turned out to be a solid PG - give a bit more oompf to the nickname lol.

*edit* before the "all too literal police" jump on me; talking about how SVG, Otis and Lee were talking about how Lee might see some time this year at the PG spot.

Arthur went in the 1st round though, so...Im not sold on Arthur, and the thought of depleting the team in assets to acquire him and give him a guaranteed contract or drop $3 million on the pick to nab him doesn't really do anything for me...would have liked a 2nd rounder though...

Arthur is actually only scheduled to make 977K based on the rookie scale. Counting the 200K to acquire the pick, the total is just shy of 1.3M, hardly considered big money. We all know the parade of bigs that went after him though, as the price dropped even further and further.

Yes, I was. Isn't the only the first two years guaranteed with a team option on the third?

I was actually referring to spending $3 million to buy the pick, thats what they go for when buying them...everyone clamoring over Arthur wants the Magic to essentially end up dropping $5 - $6 million on him...
