Undrafted Players

Post#1 » by The Sixer Fixer » Fri Jun 27, 2008 4:14 am

Who interests you out of guys who didn't get picked? We should take a look at trying to get 1 or 2 guys to play in the Summer league for us.

My Picks..

Guards - Jamont Gordon, Richard Roby and Chris Lofton
Forwards - Pat Calathes, Will Daniels, Gary Forbes, Davon Jefferson and Othello Hunter
Centers - None - maybe C.J. Giles since we worked him out

Wasn't there a fairly unknown center that we worked out a couple of times and Stefanski and/or DiLeo spoke well of? I can't remember his name, but he was praised as being a nice shot blocker. I wondered then if they were scouting him for a post-draft FA signing. I will also take anyone who can shoot a three.

Chris Lofton would be a nice 3PT shooter option.

Calathes and Lofton
Don't worry, that builds character and you can never have too much character...

Lofton, we get shooting, and we also reduce Green's PT with his signing, sounds like a win-win for me

Thanks, that's the guy. If we add him and Marreese Speights we are at least guaranteed winning at NBA player name Scrabble.

Chris Loften would seem like a no risk addition. He played his senior year with cancer. Before that, he was an early 2nd round projection guy due to his height. He has a great work ethic. Plays with a bit of a chip. Good character. Can flat out shoot.

We offered Jawann McClellan (from Arizona) a spot on our Summer League team. We did work him out at one point (article says we wroked him out 3 times). Not someone who really impresse me when I watched Arizona this year.

The 76ers are wasting their time here. Try Gary Forbes at 2 guard. Try Charles Rhodes at PF and Jamont Gordon at 2 guard. Those are 3 summer league players I want on the 76ers.

Seems like we need another PG to at least look at. I would love to see Ed offer a spot on the summer league team to Mustafa Shakur, Russell Robinson from Kansas, or Ronald Steele from Alabama (I think he's returning to school). I don't think Orien Green has signed with anyone & he has good defensive abilities and is a natural PG.

If Roby is given a chance he can become a valuable bench player in the league. He used to be a lock for the first round 2 years ago...i don't know how he didn't get drafted.

On a side note does anyone remember that kid we brought in who was compared to kg with how he was 7 foot and had an amazing handle...But he was coming out of nowhere and never got drafted...I forget his name...

I hope they announce the summer league team real soon. They need to get that out of the way so that they can get some deals done. If they can get the pf and shooter and point guard we need. The summer league will be gravy for us.
