Diaw or an outside shooter and backup PG

Post#1 » by ALL HAIL » Fri Jun 27, 2008 4:55 pm

First things first I am a Laker fan. Albeit an objective one. I really want Raadmanovic off our team because he doesn't fit. We acquired him for shooting and he does that well but we have Vujacic to fill that role now. If PHX can't dump Diaw for anyone of value how about dumping him to the Lakers for Radmanovic and (this breaks my heart) Farmar. I love Farmar. He is fantastic. If you all were to acquire him he would be the perfect understudy to Nash ... perfect.

Again thats Radmanovic and Farmar for Diaw and let's say DJ Strawberry.

You all get a quality shooter to add balance to your offense and the backup PG you have so long desired.

The Lakers get a role playing SF who can defend and handle in the triangle along with Strawberry a potential defensive specialist at either guard spot.

Your thoughts.

I'm not sold at all on Radmanovic. Farmar over Strawberry is an improvement, but Boris is pretty much the only big man depth we have right now.

Thanks, but no thanks.

Let me tell you something. Suns won't ever trade with the Lakers unless they actually benefit out of the trade, which they certainly don't here. I understand Diaw has a horrible contract, but he can actually produce. All Radmanovic has is the contract. He shoots? More like he's a chucker. The guy travel's on freeway layups. I wouldn't even consider the idea of having him on a Suns team. Farmar is not an upgrade over Strawberry because he doesn't play as well as strawberry on defence, and i could care less about offense. I want to keep strawberry because hes a cheap 3rd string SG/PG.

Our point guard of the future is Dragic. And Diaw is better than Radman. Thx but no thanks!

phx would benefit financially from this deal and they gain a successorto Nash and a 45% from the field, 41% three point shooter.

Lastly, if you think Straw is as good as Farmar right now your smokin rocks. Make trades that benefit your team instead of dwelling on what it does to the other team. With shak you need a shooter besides Nash. Rad and Farmar are good shooters, they are cheaper long term, snd Diaw doesn't fit this team b/che can'i stretch the defense, if Hillwas a bettershooter you might consider Diaw but when Bell is the bestshooter on your team other your primary ball handler yiu needat least another shooter. With this deal you get two.

It's certainly interesting. I think I would want a little more from LA.

Farmar is clearly better than Strawberry now, and could very well be better than him in the future. The reason we saw such a small amount of DJ was because of DA...I think he'll fare a lot better under Porter

Vlad is an intriguing player though, no doubt he could fill the role of TT, but where does Diaw really fit alongside Gasol and Bynum? Surely he's just a smaller, less talented Odom?

Odom for Diaw sounds better if LA wants to shed some salaries and assuming Sarver is willing to take additional 6 million per year. Some sort off poormans Odom at 60% of the price.

what other choices do we have, i don´t like the lal trade. like some other mentioned, if we´re dealing with the enemy than only if we get better.
reporting to the eastvalley we´re after guys like tyrone lue, chris duhon and anthony johnson. would love to have duhon as a backup for nash.
pg rotation nash - duhon - dj.
than we could sign kareem rush for the backup sg - that frees up a trade for barbosa.
sg rotation bell - rush - dj
we should keep boris diaw as a sf, until the beginning of the season, if he comes without any motivation we should pull a trade for him...
sf rotation diaw - ghill - tucker
i think we should think about resigning skinner, he gave us qualitiy minutes on both ends of the floor.
pf rotation amare - skinner - lopez
c rotation shaq - lopez - amare - skinner-

looks pretty amazing to me. we only added two pieces in rush and duhon and the roster looks ready for another run at the trophy.....

Props to the great one

i think we must try and get Artest.

i'd do barbosa&diaw for artest+filler without blinking, and i think it might be good for the kings as well.

artest is a basket case, but he can solve so many problems for us.
defense, toughness, 3pt thread from the 3/4 position.
and i believe Nash & Shaq can make sure he's in focus.

It's not bad. Like SDU, I think with DJ in there, I don't do it. But change it to Diaw + Tucker, or keep it as Diaw + DJ and throw in a lotto-protected 1st, and I think I'd do it. Even if Dragic is as good as advertised (which I doubt), he won't come over this year. Farmar would be a nice backup this year, and could potentially develop into a starter down the road, especially if Dragic turns out not to be the answer. Vlad isn't that good, but he can shoot, and we need shooters. And a shooter who plays the 4 is useful, since that lets us play Grant Hill and still have 3 shooters on the floor.

radmanovich was playing horrible defense in the playoffs.
while diaw main problem was being passive and not showing up, his defense was decent all the time.

we definitely don't need another defensive liability, even if he's a 3/4 who can shoot the 3pt quite well.
i think diaw can provide us with something better than that, and i'm seeing DJ as more of a Bell replacement than a Nash replacement: an excellent defender who shoot the 3pt very well (of course, he'll need to focus his practices on this part of his game, since he's a long way from being there).
