Karl Malone vs Kobe Bryant, who has the better legacy?

Both players were picked #13 in their respective drafts. Malone in 1985 and Kobe in 1996, who is considered the greater player?

It's Kobe. At his peak, he's a more prolific scorer than Malone and he won three out of four titles as part of a famous duo and reached the Finals as the main option.

Gotta go with Kobe on this one, he is going to be ranked IMO higher then Malone all time. Kobe has did one thing Malone didn't do and that was win 3 championships, which is one of the reasons Malone isn't ranked as high as the other members in his class (Hakeem, Shaq, Robinson..).

Kobe, in my opinion. He'll be remembered by more people than Karl Malone.

Malone is definitely ahead of Robinson IMO. Robinson never won a championship as the best player, and in 03, he was more like a role player. Malone never had a guy like Duncan on his team, and if he did they would've won titles too. Before Duncan, Robinson never got to the Finals and only got to the WCF once. I know Robinson's has carried some s***** teams to the playoffs, but I just don't see it. I think with all the stuff I mentioned there about even, but Malone's durability and longevity puts him over Robinson.

Despite Kobe's poor showing in the FInals I would still pick him over Malone simply because he is the sort of guy that can change the momentum of a game at any moment in time and he is one of the greatest closers we have seen. Malone was a great player but I cringe a bit when I see that in the playoffs he shot 5% worse than he did in the regular-season.

Kobe is ahead of Malone.

Kobe has more all defensive teams, and is the superior offensive player.

He scored 81 in a game! 99% of the people on these forums couldn't drop 50 in a C level mens rec league game. I don't care if it was on the Raptors. Still a crazy accomplishment.

On top of that, he is a 3 time Champion, and a MVP.

Is he Jordan? No, but he is arguably the third best shooting guard ever; behind MJ and West.

Malone was a force, but he doesn't have Kobe's resume, so how are you gonna rank him higher?

Well, I define legacy as how many rings someone has. 3>0. Kobe Bryant all the way.

^ He's slightly behind Bill Russell in terms of all time greatness.
