Yaroslav Korolev...and others on summer league team

Post#1 » by dashthemavfan » Sat Jun 28, 2008 4:36 am

Once the Draft ended, the Mavs were on the phone with rookie free agents. The team has had success in the past with those players overlooked through 60 picks. The following free agents have been invited to join Seibutis, Terry and Foster on the next month’s summer league team: Keith McLeod, Aaron Miles, Derrick Low, Reggie Williams, Richie Frahm, JaJuan Smith, Pops Mensah-Bonsu, Yaroslav Korolev, Charles Rhodes, James Singleton and Pape Sow.

Looks like Korolev will be joining our summer league team. He is an interesting name. He was highly touted from Russia coming into the 2005 draft where he was picked 12th by the Clippers. The knock on him was that he had only played junior competition, and no one knew if he was ready. He obviously wasn't, but the talent still remains there to be harnessed. He is still only 21 years old, and maybe we can make him into something like a DeSagna Diop. Worth a gamble.

James Singleton is also an interesting name from what I remember. Played for the Clippers, but I think he got offered more money to play overseas. Pretty good guy. I know Pape Sow was drafted by the Raptors a while back. And we all know about Pops. Hopefully we can pick up someone else decent.

Singelton and Sow interest me, and of course I'll be cheering for Pops.

Wow, that's the deepest summer league team I've ever seen. The Mavs is really hungry for rough diamond's service. I won't satisfy without the champion with them. That's underachieving.

I think Darren was being sarcastic

and rightfully so, you can count all successful players that went undrafted on one or two hands. I agree with you both, they need to get active or this season is over in a hurry
