Rush is our Miller

Post#1 » by pacershereiam » Sat Jun 28, 2008 3:54 pm

Brandon Rush said that he wants to be the next Reggie Miller. I like the attitude, and he has the quickness and the shot. he moves well without the ball too. If we get him the ball on the move, I think some good things will happen.

^^
 Play a game first, I don't like it when rookies compare themselves to HOF players before they play a single game.

Reggie never talked like that. He had swagger, but he earned his right to talk with confidence. And very few people had a shot like Reggie's. By the way, who came up big in the championship game? I forget, but I thought it was Chalmers. Clutch factor?

Thats true but reggie wasnt proven in the clutch until after he was in the NBA. Did he ever even make an NCAA tournament? I know he never won a NCAA championship not sure about being in the tournament though.

what you guys dont think cocky attitude you gotta be joking right. I think go ahead and cash in on dunleavy's good season and trade him for a legit 4 prospect, cause Rush is our starting 2 guard of the future

We say cocky as if it is a bad thing. But I think its just another way to say someone has a lot of self confidence in themselves. I was always told tht to be a good thing not bad. But good or bad I think you have to have a high confidence level or "cockiness" to be able to 1st Take that last second, game deciding, clutch, sometimes contested shot. And 2ndly make it! And 3rd off being able to turn to certan hollywood director with taunting gestures. People like jordan, Kobe, Reggie, Arenas. They all had that. Now I'm not about to compare those guys to Rush. Personally I didn't want to draft him. But then again I was pissed about getting Granger to. So hell who knows. Long story short I dont think he's cocky but if he was I dont know that thats a bad thing.

I don't see how this is a cocky statement at all.

Is the 5 year old kid who wants to be the next Michael Jordan cocky too?

Since when is having a dream being cocky?

yeah i never saw it as cocky either...
but i can see how it can be portrayed as such...
i see it as an ambitious statement saying he is ready to do anything for this team...
very reggie like imo...
he is also ready to silence the critics that say we should have kept bayless...

What do you want him to say? I want to be the next Ron Mercer?

I could be the next Ron Mercer. If the ball is passed to you, don't pass it to anyone. Shoot any shot you feel like. Miss it.

It's difficult to miss with the stunning consistency of Ron Mercer, though.

Haha, I used to like Mercer. I was younger then though.

Ugh.... i always thought he was a solid player until he played for the Pacers. Him and Kevin Ollie. I thought Ollie was decent with the Sixers, but i swear to god he cost us more games then any other Pacer. I hated him. MAKE A THREW THROW WHEN IT MATTERS!

I have nothing against Mercer. He was a decent player in the NBA, but probably could've been a lot more. Just from watching him, it never really seemed like he deeply cared about the game and was just there collecting a paycheck. Not a bad guy though.

Brandon Rush wants to be our new Reggie Miller

Post#19 » by Dunthreevy » Thu Jul 3, 2008 12:44 pm

"I want to try to be the next Reggie Miller," Rush told The Kansas City Star soon after hearing the news that he was headed to Indiana.

He explained to The Indianapolis Star on Wednesday that he was referring to Miller's skill and success with the team.

I like the fact that Brandon is setting his sights so high. If he plays with anything close to the passion for the game that Reggie had, we'll have ourselves another special player. I hope the comment doesn't alienate some of the long-time fans, or set the expectations too high. I'm coming to peace with the whole Bayless trade more and more every day. Can't wait to see the new team.

I didn't realize this was a new article, because the "Next Miller" quote was a few days old. I like this kid a lot. I'm hopeful we just got another Danny Granger, in terms of quality citizen, good basketball player.

Regardless of how you feel about the trades made recently, you have to acknowledge that the difference between the attitude of the franchise today and one year ago is like night and day. I'd venture to say that if you told us, as a group, as little as a month ago that we'd have Ford, Rush, Hibbert, Jack, and some future financial freedom, that it would probably be beyond most of our hopes.

If (once) they move Tinsley, I think this franchise will have moved farther towards a turn around than I believed possible for this, or perhaps any summer.
I have no idea what you're talking about, and clearly, neither do you.
