Please, Fox. Please stop letting McCarver have opinions about Joba.

I will say these two things...

I love what veras is doing out of the bullpen..

And rivera makes it look so easy. with 4 WS rings, a cheap bloop hit withing his 5th ring and 4 in a row, 6 WS appearances, allstar games, postseason dominance and the biggest looming factor in our WS wins, this guy has to go down as one of the 50 greatest players, not pitchers, but players of all time.. I mean how many guys had this kind of impact on a game where games are basically decided once he steps on the field, and he does it when the pressure is the most!!!!

Nice outing by petitte...

Is there a more big game pitcher than Mariano Rivera?

He made that look easy...

I agree, he is better now then he was 10 years ago. He is more dominant now then ever and has become once again the premier pitcher in baseball.

It's going to be a sad day when Mo retires. Luckily, we still have him for a few more seasons. He's like the Grim Reaper out of the bullpen, death to hitters.

Glad to see Dandy Andy P is pitching great. Veras impressing.

I was incredibly nervous when Farnsworthless stepped onto the mound. I was almost sure he was going to blow it.

Ok, Girardi, what the hell is this lineup? I get wanting to give players a day off here and there. But you're benching a big chunk of the lineup at an NL ballpark when Rasner is starting?

Robertson looked pretty solid, not counting the nerves. I think he will pitch better his next time out. He has the stuff. My only thing is, why didn't Girardi pinch hit Abreu for Christian and why not pinch hit Cano for Betemit? Especially because Abreu is an OBP machine and he would be pinch hitting for the RF. I know Feliciano is a left hander but he didn't have that problem with Giambi pinch hitting after. Cano is swinging a hot bat and I know Betemit hit the home run but the guy is home run or strike out and most of the time he strikes out. -Jitpal

I was surprised he didn't pinch hit Abreu also, but I didn't have a problem letting Betemit hit in the ninth. But yes, I agree with you in general that I don't like losing a close game and leaving Abreu and Cano, two of our hottest hitters sitting on the bench.

Overall though you would have to be very happy with the weekend. The Mets had Pedro, Johan, Pelfrey and Perez. Meanwhile, if you asked anyone a few months ago, who could have guessed that our four pitchers in this series would have been Pettitte, Dan Geise, Darrell Rasner, and Sidney Ponson. Getting a split really isn't all that bad!

Now we need to take care of business against Texas, before Boston and Tampa.
