Some of the guys with players options have already opted to NOT be free agents (ex. shawn marion), but i did not remove them because of the hassle. this is just so everyone knows who is out there for the sixers to go after...

I hope we don't go for guys who are awesome, but don't really fill a need like Jamison, Ellis, and Josh Smith. We need a bug banging post player at the 4, great outside shooters, and point guard. I'd like to see Ed go all out for Brand and find a way to get him here for the long term assuming he seems healthy and/or find us a LT answer at PT who can really shoot from the outside (we can use Miller as bait) like Baron Davis. With Williams, Iggy, Young, Miller, ...etc we don't need anymore slashers.

I don't like Mason, C. Smith, or Hermann much. I think they would take up space and not improve the team significantly. The other guys won't happen imo or aren't the bets picks unless they are mle pick ups after getting one of the top 4.

CJ wouldn't improve the team much, but wouldn't affect space much. I like him as a flyer more than any SG taken after Courtney Lee personally and by a good margin.

Monta Ellis: SG/PG starting SG [trade Iggy]
Josh Childress: SG/SF 6th man [acquire if Iggy is traded]
Roger Mason: backup PG, backup SG, situational reserve SF, designated shooter
Jannero Pargo: backup PG, designated shooter, instant offense off the bench
Salim Stoudamire: backup PG, designated shooter

2's and 3's are a dime a dozen...we need 4/5's and a PG.

For what we need, this list is depressingly thin...which is why Stefanski continues to say that a trade may be the way we use our caproom to get what we need,

Given no other deals are made, these are the players I think should be considered. Some are for better depth behind Sam (ie Kwame Brown is a draft bust, but still an upgrade over Calvin Booth if he can be had for a reasonable deal), some are targets to start next to Sam (ie Biedrens), some are PG depth (Dooling), and some are 3pt shooters off the bench (Mason, Nachbar).

**I still think the best move is to acquire some of the missing pieces via a Miller trade, or even a S/T with Iguodala as well as a big FA splash, but if they do in fact have the MLE, some of these players may be obtainable after the 'big' moves are made.

Your going to be disappointed, somewhat. If you listen to what Ed has been saying (and so far he has been truthful) he feels the PF position and the NBA as a whole is moving toward faster more perimeter players. I have to believe if EB does not opt out Josh Smith is Target 1 and Jamison will be 2. I really really want Josh Smith. If for no other reason he is young. Next season is not the year we compete, so I want Ed to get as many assets as possible. If you get Josh Smith and he can't play the 4 (I happen to feel he can) that you have 3 highly valuable (redundant) assets. JS, TY and AI. Anyone of those players can be turned into a franchise altering player. SO to me this year is still all about getting and developing assets, even if they don't all fit perfectly.

thats why monta ellis is 3rd on my list and jamison didnt even make it. jamison would be cool and we would make the playoffs again, but lets get j. smith, speights, and young as much time on the court as possible unless we have the major peice to make a serious playoff run (brand)

i like monta a lot, but the sixers are clearly committed to iggy. if they werent keeping iggy i would like monta over brand, because for the franchise as a whole i think he could be a long time assett. my other guys are role players who are very efficient and fill a need on the team

i think mason is a better version of carney right now. he provides more consistent outside shooting and has a nice midrange shot too. carney is running out of time for me to think he is anything more than a 9th player off the bench. smith and herrmann just provide offense from the 4. they are 3 role players i think would help any team, and could do it relatively cheaply and efficiently

Your asset argument has merit therefore I could see them going for Josh Smith. Because of age I'm far less excited about Jamison.

The more I see some of the names out there, the more I feel ed will have to get us our pf through a trade. I'm not happy with Jamison's age but he is the best of the unrestricted free agents. That kid from golden state would be a solid addition.

I'm on a quest to have my name all up the board as the last poster like sixers1983 did...that looked sweet.
