Pat Calathes

Post#1 » by Plavigrad » Sun Jun 29, 2008 11:28 am

Im sure the name has been mentioned before, right here on this forum

Pat was not exactly feeling the love the other night at the NBA drafts, so whats his next career move?

Summer leagues or Europa? Havnt read anything in the greek press regarding interest from the top 3(Aris,PAO,Olympiakos)

Any old Barcelona rumors resurfacing?

I haven't seen his name come up yet in any signing rumours for Greek teams, but the fact that he'll get a Greek passport will make his job finding a team in Europe much easier. PAO and Olympiacos aren't probably interested in including him in their rosters this year, but may sign him and loan him to another team.

He has offers from Panionios Athens and Benetton Treviso. Panionios is competing in the Euroleague next year so it would be a lot more attention from the NBA if he played there. But Benetton is offering more money.

Calathes could contribute immediately at the Euroleague level. He does not have great athleticism, but he has size and basketball skills. He can shoot lights out and is athletic enough to attack the hoop with good consistency. He has good height for a small forward and can shoot over the top of people. I think his game is taylor made for European basketball.
