Can anyone enlighten on why they wanted to get rid of Gerald? From what I've heard Bobcat fans sound certain Gerald will stay with the team. I know they have issues with resigning Okafor, but I don't see how getting rid of GW helps them.

He gets injured quite a bit. That might be a reason — if they indeed are trying to shop him. At this point it's just lose talk.

Why would the Cats do this?
1. In 4 yrs with CHA GW averaged missing over 17 gms per year, and is 1 concussion away from Steve Young status.
2. Contract goes through 2013..... 2013
3. Drafted SFs in the 1st rd the past two years (Dudley whom they apparently are high on, Morrison whom MJ thinks will rebound into a good player)
4. Playing Okafor at PF instead C where he is better, is a huge need for a rebounding big like Odom and the depth chart at PF is Sean May and Othella Harrington - ouch
5. Odom's expiring allows them to lure a big time FA back to Carolina (hello Boozer) and if they throw in Nazr they have plenty of cash to re-do Okafor.
6. Drafting Augustin over Lopez says they might be up to something with a Big.

Apparently Rob Pelinka is driving this (Kobe and GWs agent). I don't think #9 was ever in play for the Lakers though. I would like a crack at Kyle Weaver their 2nd rounder, who would be a nice BShaw like backup for LA.

They need to hurry up and do it. But since it makes sense MJ is probably looking for a worse deal.

That rumor doesn't make sense nor will it make up for MJ horrible gm moves in this years draft...except last year trading 8 for J-Rich was a solid move.

Yea MJ passed on Brook Lopez which is beyond me, your telling me that Raymond Felton who still has the chance to be an elite point guard and your telling me Nazr Mohammad is good enough to be the starting Center, you have got to be kidding me

He would of been a nice addition with Emeke Okafor, giving someone valuable in the post..instead of always pairing with a dud. They choose Augustine which is not a smart pick by MJ, showing no trust in Felton..they should go on free agent market for there backup point not the draft.
