Hey Cwitch, where has cfan been?

Anyway, I would love to grab mourning. I get the feeling mutombo is finally on his very last legs, so I don't know if I would take the chance.

Thanks, that was a good piece of information. If healthy, Mourning would be great replacement for PJ Brown. The insight regarding Tony Allen's future is interesting too.

I think Mourning would be perfect as Perk's backup. Perfect, I tell ya. We hang our hats on defense, and Mourning is still a fierce defender, and can rebound, even at his age. I'd kind of suspect that Mutombo is through at this point.

House, Jason Williams, Tyron Lue would all be fine by me. The key is Posey though.

So, Posey, Mourning and any of those three PGs and I'll be happy as a pig in slop.

Sounds like Tony won't be back.

I didnt realize Mourning was a FA! We MUST sign him he is the IDEAL backup. WIlliams wouldnt be bad as the backup PG.

I don't know if Mutombo would come here, last year said he didn't want to play in Boston because it was too cold.

And that is the story of why Mutombo does not have a ring.

I think Mourning wants to end his career with the Heat. This may have been his last season.
Also, Mutombo isn't likely to play anywhere other than Houston. We tried to pry him away last year and he wagged his finger, and said, "No, No, No!'" I don't think money matters much to the man, or even if he is super driven by the desire to get a ring anymore. He just seems to enjoy the game of basketball and playing with his friends in Houston.

I'm not too sure Mutombo would be a great fit as I'm not too sure he'd be quick enough to blitz a pick and roll.

As for Mourning, I'd love to see him here. We all know he respects Bill Russell a great deal, and iirc, Ainge tried to recruit him when he first came back from his kidney ailments. It's true that he does want to end his career with the Heat, but hey, why not end your career with a ring? Time to use some of our old Celtic ties and have John Thompson make the first phone call to Zo.

Mutombo is all about the money.

And I mean that in the nicest way, because what he wants the money for is extremely admirable charitable endeavors in his home country.

I really don't care if it's Mourning, Mutombo or Pollard. They will be used for 7 footers anyway, and we will mainly play small ball with Baby and Powe at the 4 and 5.

I think Mourning would definitely want to play for us. Why couldn't go after him last year since he was under contract. And he knows that he would have a really good chance at a ring.

If Mourning is healthy, he played in only 25 games this year, he would be the tough hard nosed enforcer we need in the middle for the second unit.

Wow, long time lurker here - had to register just to chime in that I can't think of a better marriage then this this teams identity and Alonzo Mourning. If we signed him, and lets hope Shaqs not whispering in his ear about how nice Phoenix is, I think it would be the move of the entire offseason.

Mourning might work, but I never liked him as a player and his exit from Toronto was pure bitch.

On a purely personal level I would like to avoid him.

This is all just a smoke screen to hide our interest in Rob Swift

..And that would probably be the worst free agent signing since Brian Scalabrine.

I've been saving Mourning forever. The guy is a great player and a winner. I think we could even go so far as to offer him a shot at the starting role.

Rondo
Ray
PP
KG
Zo

Posey, Cassell, Perk, Powe, Davis, Pruitt. Maybe House and Allen.

Perkins starts. Cassell is gone. Tony Allen is more than likely gone as well. Adding Mourning would just add depth.
