Shaun Livingston Gamble

Would you take a 2 year gamble and do a sign and trade of Harrington for Shaun Livinston and Fazekas with the Clippers. Livingston if healthy would be a great complement with Ellis for a backcourt for the future.

they might not resign him to make him a UFA. why trade for him when we could sign him and rehab him ourselves? i would be for it. he could guard the 2 while monta is still playing the 2 on offense

If the clips are letting him go, Livingston now must have Jay Williams type quickness.

I'm all for it.

Sign him on the cheap, give him two years to work his way back to NBA shape.

It's a gamble, but if it works, Monta's height at the two wouldn't even matter:

Livingston, Monta, Randolph, Wright, Beans...

That would be the worst shooting starting lineup ever though... but it would be up tempo and an almost impossible zone to beat...

What about Starbury for the Vet minimum? Believe it or not, the Knicks may be cutting him. Might be worth the risk for that price. Certainly would give us some insurance if Baron goes down. He might even do well in our system (running vs half-court where he pretty much sucks).

Also I hear that Indiana might be doing the same with Tinsley. Let's re-unite him with Jack, and then we can bring over Rasheed and Ron-Ron.

Tinsley
Jackson
Artest
Wallace
Hendrix (Andris, Monta and Wright are too nice a guys to play with this group.

Seriously, Livingston and Marbury might be worth considering although I think that if Livingston's fully recovered he will be getting some pretty decent offers wheras I doubt Marbury will and may very well be grabbed for the Vets minimum. I think with guys like Jack, Baron and Nellie there's no way he'll screw things up as far as his locker room presence (they'd whip his a$$ and Nellie would send him packing if he started any trouble).

Livingston is hella worth the risk,
He took a risk on Webber, this is an easy yes,
Livingston is big enough to play next to Monta
plus hes a true POint guard
plays defence
if his knees healthy it might work out if not just cut him easy as that

I'd be mad if Mullin didnt try to sign him

Until he lasts a season (even a month would be a step) and still has mobility (not Webber slow) his wheels are assumed to be damaged goods. Even so,he hasn't proven much, showed potential...way back when. Harrington's $$ are way beyond the small $ it would cost for Livingston+ Fazekas. That's a problem. Until the kiddie core PLAYS....Harrington is our only 4 with experiance. We should try getting Fazekas, low $ PF/C,shoots+ boards. Smart, though not quick (relative to a good starter) but plenty mobile enough as a backup.
We figure to have 3 slots with Azu + Watson back, Barnes,POB,Cro,Pietrus gone. Depth at PG,C,SF figure as focal points though the "best athlete/player" rule has to apply.

I just don't like the risk Nellie over-uses Marbury and he's a negative force. If Indy buys out Tinsley-similar case. Tinsley actually had a better year than Marbury but also was a "bad influence" on Jax,and we'd be smart to not bring in any negative role models for our young guys. I'd rather have an overachiever hustle type with great work ethic and a bit less talent.
CENSORED... No comment.

I think it would be a great idea to go after Shaun. The main concern with his knee is losing quickness on the defensive end trying to guard PGs. In our system he would be defending opposing SGs. We need a backup pg anyways, so why not give it a shot?
