2008 NBA season.... the perfect season?

Post#1 » by Baller 24 » Sun Jun 29, 2008 3:40 pm

There were a lot of things that happened this past year, and it starts with the KG and Allen trade the Celtics made throughout the summer of 2007. As the NBA season started, the Celtics started out hot, we go into 2008 and see that the Lakers have acquired Pau Gasol, a buzz starts growing around that trade about a future possibility of a Lakers vs. Celtics NBA finals match up. You go down to mid February, the Rockets become the first team since the Lakers to win 20 consecutive games, 22 to be exact. As the playoffs start, the Lakers find an "easy" path to the finals, while the Celtics have a tough time dealing with the Hawks, then of course LBJ who put up a hell of a match up. The buzz becomes a reality as the Celtics and Lakers meet for the first time since the mid 1980s. Then you have the Chicago Bulls acquiring the first pick overall in the 2008 NBA draft.

So was the 2008 NBA season one of the most prefect NBA seasons?

Or

Was the 2008 NBA season one of the most perfect planned seasons?

How were you able to type this without your tinfoil hat falling off? Now Stern can read your thoughts!

And then during the finals we find out about "rigged" games in the past...so this season turns out to be one of the best seasons Stern had, while in the end it blows up all in his face with the information that now has been obtained by the judicial system.

It wasn't perfect, but it was the most exciting in years. The Championship ratings actually go up and I think game 6 was the highest rated since 2000, even though it was a blow-out. The ratings for the regular season were up. It's a remarkable accomplishment considering the ref scandal. Hopefully now the NBA will realize how important the Celtics are for their success and they won't get screwed in the draft lottery like they have.

 at any complaints by Celtics fans.

For the NBA it wasn't the perfect season because of Donaghy (or how ever you spell it), and the Seattle thing. If it wasn't for that the worse they could complain about was an anti-climatic first round in the west.

as for the topic..of course it wasn't the perfect season for the NBA..Stern's master plan for the 2002 finals was unveiled(not that all of us didn't know already) and Donaghy probably has more to say, unless somebody on Stern's payroll(or Buss' payroll) takes him out first..

The regular season was fine but the playoffs didn't come close to matching the hype.

You realise that if you didn't "get screwed" in last year's draft, you wouldn't have won the championship and the Celtics would have remained irrelevant for years to come?

I personally think the NBA playoffs for '08 was a huge let-down. You have all west playoff teams with similar regular season records but none of the series went past 6 games except for Hornets/Spurs and even their series was not very exciting as each team kept getting blown out on the road. The entire western conference first round was boring with the exception of game 1 Suns/Spurs. At least the east had a game 7 with Atlanta and Boston.

game 7 against atlanta stunk, and i thought the lakers-jazz series was entertaining.

Not even close. The NBA has fallen off in a huge way for the past decade. It had its moments but there have been better NBA seasons in years past where it was more relevant than it is now. Most of the focus is either on the NFL or MLB.

LOL they didn't get screwed, the lottery system served its purpose. Where were all you whining idiots when Portland had the worst record and the 4th pick?
