Rate the Magic draft

Post#1 » by mhectorgato » Sun Jun 29, 2008 6:13 pm

There are a couple other threads full of discussion about the selection and Otis' job.

So the purpose of this thread is to simply allow us to rate the draft. No need to rehash the same arguments made elsewhere.

Hopefully there are enough options to satisfy most.

I voted B, I like Courtney and I have a feeling hes going to be a very solid player for us. But I dont think we should have passed on Arthur. Arthur is a guy with ALOT of skills and could have developed nicely with Dwight. But Im glad we got Lee.

I like picking up Lee but there were too many opportunities in this draft that weren't fully explored.

Kosta at 22 and Lee with the Spur picks was not out of the realm of possibility. B- from me. Oh well, life goes on.

B+ because of how strongly I feel about Lee as a basketball player and contributor to this squad...

I went with a B- too. I didn't like filling the need at sg with a first round pick, and not picking up another player was a missed opportunity. I like Lee, but locking in on him so much cost us a potential Arthur and CDR draft, now that would have been a solid A or A+.

I still have faith in Otis pulling a rabbit out of his hat during this off season...

You are going to be happy that you passed on Arthur for Lee.

Arthur will be a bust, he is overated, and had been overated all year. His liver or w.e isnt the only reason why his stock dropped.

I like the Lee pick, i give you guys a solid B

I agree. I think Arthur will disappoint. Koufos, on the other hand, will be a solid NBA player for a long time.

I'm happy w/ the Lee pick though.

I think Arthur will be one of the shocks of the draft. The fact he went to a pick-n-roll team makes me think he could have a very productive first year. He isn't a throw it in the post like PF. Although he does have a great turn around jump shot. He a born pick-n-roll player and now he going to a team that runs that a lot. Now he perhaps the most motivated player in the draft.

B. I like Lee, but slightly disappointed we didn't get a 2nd rounder. But it's just a 2nd rounder, so I haven't lost any sleep over it.

I voted B, I thought we got wat we came for and Lee is a solid pick.. Im glad we didnt get Kosta or Aurthur with 22, but i would have liked to have gotten a 2nd rounder. I still think we will pick up a guy like Dorsey before the offseason ends though

bump.

Would like to get as many votes as possible - don't think 26 is enough to be a relatively accurate sample size.

I say a C+. I don't think Otis really maximized the potential in this draft to fill team needs. Koufas and Lee would have been an A+ in my book. Lee is a stud though!

On the pick alone I go with a B+.

I think it was a good pick. All buisness related stuff aside.

How do would you think we would get 2 first round picks "realistically"?

I voted B because I think this years pick came easier for Otis and Stan in terms of drafting on needs and wants.

I wanted another move made though on draft night. Maybe a seconder rounder or some future deals.

B-, I love the pick of Lee and even gave a fist pump when we picked him with all that eye candy on the board. The only reason I don't give it a higher pick was because it would've been nice to pickup a big man too, but I understand why they didn't make the move as well. Actually if I could change my vote I'd give it a solid B.
