Curious!! Why aren't you guys making a play for Vince Carter

Seems like the Nets would like to have some cap relief with them trading away Jefferson now and even listening to a deal from Cleveland about Wally. You guys are championship contenders, I'm surprised their has been no mention regarding Carter.

Why not just trade Battie and Redick and Cook and a 1st round pick for Vince Carter since all 3 will be expiring in 2010?

That would give you a lineup of:

PG Nelson/Dooling
SG Vince/Bogans
SF Hedo/Evans
PF Lewis/Garrity
C Dwight/Foyle

I think the main reason is, the salary cap...Dooling, Evans and Garrity have each already expired, Foyle is most likely not going to return...so pulling off your proposed deal (which is pretty unrealistic IMO, however in light of the Pau deal, anything is possible, not feeling the future 1ster though) leaves the Magic with

Nelson
VC/Lee/Bogans
Hedo
Shard
Dwight/Gortat

and no money to work with in terms of adding additional talent, and no assets to trade away in the same pursuit...the other reasoning may be that the Nets are done unloading, it was going to be either RJ or VC not RJ and VC...also I dont think that Otis likes VC for the Magic...VC is fools gold I believe...the more curious aspect is why the Magic should pursue Vince?

We'd have 4 guys who need the ball in their hands to be effective. (nelson,vince,hedo,lewis)

That would mean a.) hedo needs to head to the bench....and b.) nelson needs to learn how to play pg when vince and lewis are in.

Lol...This trade would be horrible. Magic need some frontcourt help IMO...And u having them trading Battie who is their best backup...would put them in a worse position.


Carter is getting old, is overpaid, and is a cancer. When his team is losing, or he isnt getting his shots..he often disapears and stops playing hard...take it from somone who has seen a lot of nets games. When the dude is on..not many people can stop him...he takes alot of bad shots though...


Why is Orlando giving up a pick? they are taking huge salery back...and they need to give up a pick for a player who is worn down and towards the end of his carear?

I am 50- 50 on VC I just dont think he would help maybe on the cheap or if we can steal him I might just feel he would hinder us more with his selfish style of play.

The only reason we are not making a play is because we have nothing to offer. New Jersey could do much better than what your suggesting. They received a very talented player in Yi in the RJ deal. They received Devin Harris in the Jkidd deal. My expectations it would take equal to get VC. You have them getting nothing but what will probably be a very low pick for VC.

This well we don't want him or we don't need him stuff is ridiculous. We have easily one of the worst SG situations in the league and I would trade Battie in a second for Vc. Especially since we have no guarantee that Hedo is on this roster after next year.

How was Battie their best backup last year?!

He was in a 3-piece suit all year. He'll probably be injured, or at least hobbled and limited in his effectiveness, for the rest of his career/contract. The Nets would be getting no big prize with Tony in this deal, not to mention he would never see the court behind Yi/Brook/Josh/Sean/Nenad/Ryan/Stro.

Overall, the Nets would not even consider this deal, even if they were shopping Vince (which we aren't). Fit and salary would be much bigger concerns for the Magic, though, than Tony Battie.

man dont hate dude. All of us in Orlando and long-time fans of the Magic know what Tony brings to the Magic. We missed him terribly and I know he wanted to get out there and play. I'm hoping and praying that he stays healthy for us all season. Tony is going to add a dimension to this team, a special something that we missed all year long, his veteran leadership, his athleticsm, his workman like attitude, dude's a stud in my book and will really help round out our front court. If you havent figured out I'm a battie fan, lol...

We need another big, thats for sure, but we also need help in the back court, At this point I dont care who they ship out to get Corey, they need to address that need and get him back in magic blue. Ship Bogans, JJ, and whoever else, as long as its not Hedo, I'm ok with it. I'll give up dooling for Corey, and I love Keyon, he brings a lot of spark to our team, but I'd rather s&t him rather than lose him to FA.
