Ideas for the answer to our 3 point shooting needs
Throw out some ideas here...think cheap...with most of the money hopefully going to a big time FA...
Via Trade:
J.J. Redick: still believe he can figure it out...has always been a player that relishes when doubters arise, and he could flourish with a change of scenary.
Matt Carroll: underused in Charlotte, not an LB type of guy...could be pretty solid here as a poor man's KK for less moolah
Free Agents:
JayCee Carroll: one of hte berst shooters in teh country...sick percentages...bring him in, and just see if he can work as a small, 2guard who can shoot open 3s all day.
Pat Calathes: y'all already know about PC...he can do a lot of things well, very versatile
Chris Lofton: i don;t like him but some might...who knows
P.S.
Give Marcus Haislip a look!!! he's killing it overseas...ultra athletic 4man who can run and jump...has put on some muscle...sounds like he's a fit...just give him a friggin look!

Re: Ideas for the answer to our 3 point shooting needs
A couple of other options are James Jones from the Blazers and JR Smith of Denver. Jones would be easier to acquire in that he is now a UFA, but he turned down a contract for $3.1 million, so for simply a specialist, he must be looking for a big raise. As for Smith, he's an RFA and a potential headcase to boot, plus Denver has said they want him back. On the flipside, Denver is dangerously in luxury tax town and just sold away its 1st round pick to avoid having to pay another guaranteed contract. Smith is also just 21-22 and has the capability to not only hit 3 pointers, but occasionally take over games. He's a bit risky because he's more volatile, but if you could get him for a reasonable price that Denver would not match, he might be a nice find.

Re: Ideas for the answer to our 3 point shooting needs
I'm sure they realize that this team is in desperate need of an outside shooter. There are many options out there so we should be able to find someone. Roger Mason, James Jones, Mickael Pietrus, Matt Barnes. Maybe Chris Duhon, but he wouldn't get much PT as he would probably have that Kevin Ollie role with us, the steady situational PG.

if JR wasnt such a headcase he would be the obvious choice but cheeks isnt a very good discipline guy and it seems Ed is being careful with our chemistry

Re: Ideas for the answer to our 3 point shooting needs
James Jones seems like a decent answer but I think Stefanski is really hoping that Carney, Williams, Iguodala, and Thad all improve their shots over the summer.
I think a big key to us improving our outside shot will be whoever replaces Andre Miller at the point. That might not happen this summer but Ed needs to get a firm grip on what his intentions are next summer and if he doesn't get a decent feeling that he's staying... than he should move him now and get a PG with some range.

Agreed.

As I posted over at the alternate universe...
Nick Fazekas is a FA. I would sign him if we traded away Smith.
I also have this strange vision of us signing Brand or JSmoove, and then making a deadline deal:
Miller+ our two 2009 #1's+ Carney for Billups.
Just a vision I had.

I would never do that trade for Billups. Too old, and I refuse to make a deal including our 1st round pick(s) unless we're picking up a young star-in-the-making.

Re: Ideas for the answer to our 3 point shooting needs
Best case scenario is Andre Miller, Iggy and Thaddeus all improving their shooting touch in TC. We can't heavily rely on our bench with their shooting. Great teams like the Celtics, Spurs, Pistons and LA all got 3-4 guys in their starting line-up who are terrific shooters.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

How about Pat Calathes or Chris Lofton? Both great shooters that were in the mix of being 2nd round draft picks but were left out. Lofton is a bit small, but if Daniel Gibson can succeed in the NBA, there's no reason this guy can't.

Re: Ideas for the answer to our 3 point shooting needs
ckchen has the right idea...
this is thinking cheap.
guys like JR Smith and James Jones are not cheap enough...and we may have to overpay to outbid their current teams in order to bring them here.
Mason isn't a bad idea with the cheap thought, but Wiz like him a lot and think he's better than Luther Head.
Pargo is solid name, but i also think he may be out of our price range, and why leave NO for Philly...
As much as the Magic dismiss JJ Redick trade desires, I still think he can be had for relatively cheap.
Same goes with Matt Carroll, but he really hasn't been mentioned as on the block, still though think we can snag him possibly even for a guy like Calvin Booth, you nkow how LB loves old vets who can block a shot. Carroll shot .436% from downtown this year.
Kareem Rush is not a bad name...he may get pushed out of rotation with broseph, Brandon in the fold.
Names that I like for the Summer League FA route:
Bryce Taylor
Lofton
JayCee Carroll
Brian Roberts
Jamar Butler
Calathes
Josh Duncan
Time to think outside of the box ala Anthony Parker:
these are some guys who are shooting very well overseas and could be had for cheap so they could try to regain some credibility back home
Trajan Langdon (i know never a popular name): in his 5 years of international ball he has shot (51.1, 39.1, 39.0, 42.0, 45.8% from downtown respectively) while making at least 2 three pointers a game four out of five seasons...I am not saying he is the solution nor am I saying any of these guys are, I just like thinking outside of the box, and KNOW that as an organization, the Sixers do not do it enough
Dewarick Spencer
Hollis Price
Reece Gaines
Hometown fav Gerry McNamera
Louis Bullock
Let's get creative...they will not have the moolah for JR Smiths and James Joneses of the world...unless we can have them for the MLE, but do we even have that available right now?
Not crazy about Salim Stoudamire
what about Rashon Anderson, any1 knwo what happened to him?
Lee Humphrey?
Taureen Green (know he's in the Blazers d-laegue system, but a good name)
Sarunas Jasickivicius, not cheap prob

Re: Ideas for the answer to our 3 point shooting needs
The trade that makes the most sense in my mind:
Willie Green for Rashual Butler (NO).
Contracts match. Butler's little redundant in NO because of 2 other 3 pt shooters, MoPete and Peja. Green supplies NO with offensive spark and a midrange game. Butler gives the Sixers a good outside shooter (shoots a pretty good percentage from the outside).

Steve Novak he is tall and can shoot the lights out. Could even play spot minutes at PF if we need him to. He could also come relatively cheap.

Novak is restricted by Houston, so he won't be that cheap, or they'd just keep him.

Re: Ideas for the answer to our 3 point shooting needs
I don't want to see it happen (being a Wiz fan) but you guys should make a serious run at signing Roger Mason.
President Trump told two senior Russian officials in a 2017 Oval Office meeting that he was unconcerned about Moscow’s interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election because the United States did the same in other countries
