Ya, it wouldn't be worth it either. We would have to give up Howard and Stack to make the contracts work and that's too much for someone who is aging and has a huge contract.

One last reason why the Nets would consider the deal that I propose... LBJ is looking to go to a Major market for his endorsement bonus' but he is not going to go to a Nets team that is the worst in the league and have a player in Carter that might not mesh well. If the Nets get out from under Carter's contract and replace it with expiring deals, then NJ could offer LBJ the opportunity to get a MAX contract AND pick a running mate to get a very large contract as well.

Point being if LBJ says he will come IF he can play with Kidd, NJ would have that flexibility to fit both. I just can't see NJ doing better than they did in a deal for Carter than they did for Jefferson.

Kidd will be 38 by then, if you think he's not as good now think how good he will be in a few more seasons.

I think what the mavs are going to do is a S&T George for Diop and we may throw in a second round pick or cash. This will give them something in return for a season and we get the player we want for the MLE, which frees it up for a SG.

I just don't see the nets giving away Carter that easily. He is their best player and I would imagine they would atleast want a future 1st and a prospect player, and Bass wouldn't help them out. To me it just seems like we are trying and trying to make something work with the Nets and nothing is there.

The Nets may want more but the question is whether they can get it. He is a good player but has a horrible contract that will hurt them in getting a lot in return. I agree it will take more than just expirings and adding Bass won't cut it. However, a young SG or future draft pick added to Stack and George might get it done.
That is why I think we could get another team involved and we could include Bass and Wright.

Basically we would be trading Stack, George, Bass and Wright for VC and Diop.
Just not sure who that 3rd team could be though.

If Artest sign for MLE, I can see us dealing Josh for VC & Diop. But it's unlikely.
VC for JoHo surely won't interest fellow Mavs fans, I believe.

If not, expirings and future second could be the price for VC.
