Those places don't get a dime from me and Last Thursday is a joke. I hope you were born and raised here to call me out like that.

I'm tired of hearing about Portlands future, you have to put it together on the floor, not every young player with "potential" pans out. Greg Oden will basically be a rookie, how many 20/21 year old big men come in and dominate the league?

Flash forward 4 years when they've got 4 guys wanting Max contracts, and a bunch of other guys wanting an MLE+ type deal.

I don't believe you can build a team full of 20~23 year olds and keep them together long term. If they want to win, they're going to need a few veterans.

Look at the Bulls. 3 years ago people were calling them a dynasty. Now, they're rebuilding again.

Oh. My. F*cking. God.

How many times does this have to be answered every day? Paul Allen is worth 20 billion. The other 29 owners combined are worth 25 billion.

Allen pays more for his Yacht each year than he does on anything related to the NBA.

He will pay an exorbitant amount of money for players that he thinks will win him a championship.

The 2002 Trailblazers payroll was 150 million dollars, and at the time the cap was around 40 million.

The only way players leave is if they're not getting enough minutes and aren't happy (Read: Webster, Outlaw, Przybilla, Fernandez)

The core isn't going anywhere unless KP is dumb enough to allow a Boozer situation happen...which, well...won't happen.

Shaq, Duncan, Hakeem... basically the last 3 centers that were as highly rated as Oden. :D

Just to be cynical.....

Oden - career plagued by injury
Aldridge - borderline all star at best, always forced to play 2nd fiddle to Oden whenever he was healthy
Webster - Great shooter, but not much else
Roy - all-star , maybe MVP candidate in his prime. The glue guy..
Bayless - just doesnt fit, isnt a point guard, wont be needed to score 20ppg, whats he going to do exactly?

Portland worked the draft well, but the components they have aren't a sure bet at a title, let alone a dynasty :)

I just read 13 pages of this thread straight through for the first time. Wow. I must say I love seeing my beloved Blazers as the envy of the league. Having a 13 page thread about how many (if any) championships my team is going to win is pretty f'ing awesome. Some points I want to make:

1. I can't wait til opening night. My fingers are crossed for a Portland/Laker match-up. I can't wait to see the Oden/Bynum match-up in person.

2. Speaking of Bynum and Oden, no Laker fan can possibly call Oden injury prone and predict that he misses out on the playoffs when your own golden boy Bynum spent the entire playoffs (all the way through that impressive finals showing) in a suit because his recovery was progressing extremely slowly. You have to be kidding me with that one.

3. The Bulls and Clippers of recent have nothing on this Blazers team. Nothing. Look at both of those rosters and then look at the Blazers roster. It isn't close. No team that I can remember has had this much talent at all 5 positions, 1st and 2nd string, all very young, and all high character, hard working guys.

4. Not only do we have the talent across the board, but we have the management and ownership to keep that talent. I don't need to talk about salaries, because you are just stupid if you think we can't afford them, but I couldn't be more comfortable with our situation in the front office.

5. I've got more NE Portland love for you guys, Sabas and Nonstop. I've spent all my 21 years there and couldn't ask for a better place to grow up.

6. I know a title isn't guaranteed, but if any team in the league has a better reason to be excited about the next decade, show them to me. I love all the haters and the doubters because it means we are doing something right. Its been a few years since anyone took the time to "hate on" Portland.

7. I would put a large sum of money (if I had a large sum of money...) that Portland wins its next title before Kobe does.
