Euroleague Super Clubs

Post#1 » by Lakers_4_Life » Sun Jun 22, 2008 4:09 pm

CSKA Moscow
Panathinaikos Athens
Olympiacos Piraeus
Barcelona

Those are some damn good Euro teams right now. I don't care what anyone says the Euroleague level is much higher than it was just a few years ago. The American NBA fans around here are living in the past with how they view the Euroleague as being "so, so much worse than NBA". The truth is the Euroleague is making some real progress.

These are not next year's rosters just the current ones. Keep in mind these teams are still trying to add top level players and they will improve even these rosters before the season starts. Like Panathinaikos is talking with Carlos Delfino, Olympiacos with Anthony Parker, CSKA trying to get Kirilenko out of his Jazz contract (just like last year), etc.

CSKA Moscow

PG JR Holden/Zoran Planinic/Alexey Shved
SG Trajan Langdon/Nikos Zisis/Viktor Keiru
SF Ramunas Siskauskas/Viktor Khryapa/Andrey Vorontsevich
PF Matjaz Smodis/Terence Morris/Artem Zabelin
C Erazem Lorbek/Aleksey Savrasenko/Sasha Kaun

Barcelona

PG Jaka Lakovic/Roko Ukic
SG Juan Carlos Navarro/Gianluca Basile
SF Ersan Ilyasova/Roger Grimau
PF David Andersen/Jordi Trias/Albert Moncasi
C Mario Kasun/Fran Vazquez

Olympiacos Piraeus

PG Theo Papaloukas/Milos Teodosic/Igor Milosevic
SG Lynn Greer/Yotam Halperin/Arvydas Macijuaskas
SF Panagiotis Vasilopoulos/Michalis Pelekanos
PF Yiannis Bourousis/Giorgos Printezis/Zoran Erceg
C Nikola Vujicic/Sofoklis Schortsanitis/Ian Vouyoukas

Panathinaikos Athens

PG Dimitris Diamantidis/Sarunas Jasikevicius/Aris Tatarounis
SG Vassilis Spanoulis/Drew Nicholas/Nikos Chatzivrettas
SF Stratos Perperoglou/Dusan Kecman/Fragiskos Alvertis

C Nikola Pekovic/Kostas Tsartsaris

Maccabi could easily be considered a "Super Club". They make the Euroleague Final Four almost every year. By the way, since when is Lorbek with the CSKA?

Tau Ceramica definitly should make part of the clubs considered "super" in Europe. IMO, of this teams, TAU Ceramica only isnt better than CSKA.

Pablo Prigioni/Zoran Planinic
Igor Rakocevic/Sergi Vidal
Pete Mickeal/Simas Jasaitis/Lucho Fernández
Mirza Teletovic/James Singleton/Gabe Muoneke
Tiago Splitter/Will McDonald
I love players like Kobe Bryant, Vince Carter, Carmelo Anthony and Tracy McGrady. Why? Just because I love basketball. Even if you don't have one in your team, you should love them, too. ;)

Sorry for off topic, but does anyone know where to purchase official Euroleague and National team jerseys? I'm even interested in the smaller leagues because I'd like to have some of my favorite college player's pro european jersey like Ron Lewis in Belgium. thanks!

Maccabi is a super team in my opinion... they lost Nikola Vujčić due to financial reasons, but the team is still star-studded for Europe, and like Rasho Brezec pointed out, is almost always in the Euroleague Final Four. They are a definate powerhouse of Europe.

They have:

5: Esteban Batista / D'Or Fischer / Yaniv Green
4: Marcus Fizer / Lior Eliyahu / Rodney White
3: Tre Simmons / Omri Cassip / Jason Williams
2: Derrick Sharp / Tal Burstein / Alex Garcia
1: Will Bynum (?) / Dror Hajaj

I think Fizer and Batista is a beastly combination of borderline NBA talents. They will definately hurt from losing Vujčić, but the number one priority they need is an elite point guard. Bynum may or may not be with them anymore, and he wasn't that great to begin with.
