What teams WILL make moves?

Post#1 » by MartyConlonOnTheRun » Mon Jun 30, 2008 2:47 pm

Just curious how many teams are basically guaranteed to make a move based on the current roster?

The Bucks are definitely one. 5 guys in the starting lineup who want to shoot and not play defense will not fit Skiles. Also, we only have Gadzurich as a backup 4/5. Once Mo Williams BYC is gone on July 1st, I could see him and Villanueva gone.

Who else needs to make trades and still?

The Nets will still make moves . Trenton Hassel , Stromile Swift , KvH's expiring and a 4 Million Dollar trade exception still need a home .

Maybe not really big moves but moves will be made.

I don't think any team is a guarantee to make a move. I'd like to think Chicago will make a move because they definitely need to but Paxson is extremely hesitant to make trades until he's sure that he's getting by far the best end of the bargain and he doesn't have Isiah Thomas to bail him out anymore. I think they will try to shop Ben Gordon in a S&T for a big but I'm not sure what they'll do if they aren't offered anything.

I think the Nets would like to move Vince but I doubt they find any takers with desirable packages.

The Cavs would definitely like to add a star alongside Lebron but they don't have much to offer outside of expirings.

Teams that I think are pretty good bets to make a move are:

Milwaukee - Hammond seems to be getting things done over there and the team wants a PF and to dump Villanueva.

Charlotte - Larry Brown is going to want a few more of his players. I don't know what they'll do but I suspect they'll make something happen.

Seattle - I think they're going to move a PG. Keeping Ridnour, Watson and Westbrook together makes very little sense.

I also think Toronto might make a move, too, although they aren't as good bets as the top 3 teams. They need some guards to support their new frontcourt.

Bulls should make a move but Paxson is like that annoying chess player who keeps moving his piece but keeping his hand on it and changing his mind at the last second.

New York Knicks, and no they won't sign some mediocre player(Jerome James, Jarred Jeffries I'm looking at you) to the mid level.

Milwaukee Bucks, I expect them to have a different starting PG by October and I can also see them moving Charlie V.

Detroit Pistons, they have to do something and Joe Dumars is well aware of that.

Dallas Mavericks, Cuban may love the guys he has now but he knows that team assembled has no chance advancing in the playoffs.

And I don't expect the Nuggets to make any positive moves as Rex Chapman has shown he is clearly a numb skull.

Other teams I (obviously) expect to make moves:
Washington Wizards
Chicago Bulls

If the Jazz resign CJ Miles, the will have 15 players under contract which is very unusual to them.

You will probably see something happen with Jason Hart being traded and possibly Jarron Collins.

Raptors will hopefully make a move for a scoring wing like Maggette. They also need more players as they have a depleted roster today.

Well definitely something is going to happen, but I don't see that something being a trade unless Beno isn't re-signed. Even then, I think we're more likely to just sign a cheap stop gap like J-Will for a couple years.

For what / who?

Unless its a deal similar to last year's trade deadline blockbuster (Green for Wafer), I wouldn't expect much
Thank you for all the memories BRoy. You were a class act and brought hope to an entire region for 5 years. You will be missed.

Bulls will make some move. Either move players for expiring, or move for a superstar.

Gee...how exciting...we MIGHT have a good PG in a few years....if we get lucky in the draft. Go Kings!
